Hi, I am currently not in the recruiting process as of yet, but will be writing my test in a few months. My only problem is that my vision is not up to standards and I will have to have laser surgery. My problem is I really don't want to spend the money on the surgery unless I get into the force. I'm assuming they don't really care, and you have to go through with the surgery and then pray to the big guy that you will get in. Has anyone else been in this situation? And what did you do? Any help any of y'all could give me would be very helpful. Thanks a million!

I think you have to meet the vision standards in order to submit your application. So surgery would be a must. I think having perfect vision would be a bonus no matter what.

i agree...vision must meet standards first. you can't even go through the process until 6 months after the eye surgery. if i recall. will be posted on their web page under vision requirements.

hey kdiv applicant, what I would recomend is going throught the 8 competencies in the RMSIG and thinking of atleast 2-3 examples of each, and just reviewing your examples over and over, that way when you have your interview you will feel more confident. Also try to think of questions they may ask you...again look at the 8 competencies in the RMSIG. good luck!! just make sure that your honest. sit down with someone and act out an interview, and think of times where you have shown examples of all competencies. its that simple.

That is so wonderful! I know who ACE 13 is as I read all 167 pages of this thread. She got to work in Newton (sp?) Det. in Surrey. So I wonder if that means she married Storm (Det. in Ricmond)? I am so happy for them! They and the earlier ones made this thread so healthy and informative. Then came the garbage about the Polygraph and such. Although the focus was for people going through the application process for the RCMP it was very inspirational to hear how much they enjoyed the job once they made it through. It made you want to continue trying.

Hey Guys,
It's been quite a while since I've posted....if you scroll way way back, to the beginning of this thread I was just getting started with my journey to the RCMP. I've been reading posts over the past few years, but haven't made my own. I was initially deferred for a 2 year period, and last year decided to start the process again. This process can be long and frustrating at times, but it is also a good way to learn about yourself, and also helps build patience!! It is an exciting process, and I'm happy to say that after getting my process started again, I made it through and am heading to Depot in May. For those of you that feel like it will never happen and get discouraged, keep your head up, and keep plugging at it, if it's what you really want, you'll make it through. Good luck!!
