Hey everyone...
I just got my RPAB mark back:
RPAT: 4.42 Conscientiousness: 59.5 RPAB: 285.56
I applied in "B" division (Newfoundland).
How does this score compare to others? What's my chances??
I know that my RPAT mark is quite high. BUT, that being said, my RPAB score is only 285.56 which is not much above average. That puts me in the top 5000 of the 10,000 applicants this year... that's not so encouraging!
I must have scored really low on the SFPQ... I guess I'm a slimebag?!?
Seriously though, I'm really worried about my chances...

I am stilling waiting to "get the final call" from the RCMP. My background investigation is still under way! That is awesome about Jan. 09! I am suppose to be going sometime in January as well! I do not have a departure date yet though! Maybe I'll see you out there!

Diary date... huh, I did not receive anything like that. It sounds like things are done just a little different in each division.
It feels good to be at this stage of the game, like a finalist in a contest or something. Soon enough, we will be at the bottom of another pile though. As a new Troop at Depot, with 25 weeks in SASK to look forward to.
Ugggh... It's -21 in Regina today!

Things are different in each division. Spyder's posting from BC is WAY different than my timeline. I did my info session in Jan/04; wrote in Feb and got the package in May. I sent in the package (with PARE results) in on June 9th and had my interview in July. My background was done in October and now I'm waiting for the medical and dental. I talked to the recruiter a few weeks ago and they said I'd get a letter in early December with medical dates and info and shortly after would be given a date for the Depot. There has been no mention of a psych and the medical/dental is the last thing they do here (I guess.)

No sorry Newfie I didn't get a "diary date". Just a rough date for when I would probably be sent out to Depot which is some time in Jan.
I last spoke to recruiting on Nov. 03. I am debating about calling them again after christmas sometime if I do not hear anything.

hey guys...just looking for some words of encouragement. I am in my background check stage and am having second thought about the 6 months gone with no pay as I have been a dad for about 2 weeks now. Does anyone know how much time you get to see family while at depot?

Congrats! I don't have kids since it is just my husband and I, but I do know from experience with him being gone that all your weekends are "free" that is to say, you've got your time to do your homework and anything else you would like to do. While he was gone I saw him once for a long weekend. A ton of the people in his troop had small children and one in particular had a "new" baby. He said that although this particular person was a bit stressed, in the long run he realized he was glad he kept with it and stuck it out. We also have a friend who is a mom to a toddler who is at Depot right now and she felt it very hard to leave and too said that in the bigger picture it is a dream she has always wanted. Her husband and baby have gone to visit on weekends twice and that makes her time at Depot fly. So, in the end, when I hear of peole going to Depot who in particular, have kids, I tip my hat to them...it takes a lot of courage and strength and good for them. Depending on the time you go, you may have a few long weekends more than usual and it is these weekend that will be of great importance for you once there. Good luck, I am sure you will make the best decision for you and your new family! hey guys...just looking for some words of encouragement. hey guys...just looking for some words of encouragement. I am in my background check stage and am having second thought about the 6 months gone with no pay as I have been a dad for about 2 weeks now. Does anyone know how much time you get to see family while at depot? It all depends on different things. If you catch on quick to everything then you can spare the weekends to visit rather than studying. And then it would matter how far you have to travel and how much money you have to spend on traveling. I had one troopmate that had a 2 week old baby when he got the call to go to depot. He managed to go home 4 or more times. There was another troopmate who had a newborn about 3 months in and went home every weekend because he was able to have most of the homework done before the weekend, plus he lived in Regina so it wasn't far to travel. Either way, don't pass it up if it's a dream of yours. If you really don't care which police force you work for then try and get on with one that is closer to home and fits your situation best. Best of luck.

For anyone who is leaving for the Depot soon or has just gone...how long after your final PARE date before you got a departure date. I just got my medical info and my medical is on January 10th and my final PARE is on Feb 11. Just wondering what the wait is after that. Thanks.

ohhh... i did my final PARE beginning of OCT, but it had expired in June... they wanted me to wait for my final interviews and stuff to be finished before scheduling me for another PARE (I scored a 3:27 first time, so they weren't worried).
for me it was finishing up the background check that i was really waiting for. my final medical and BG check was done by NOV, and I got the call 01 DEC.
i think everyones file is treated a little differently, from what i gather.
good luck!

DaveTO It has been August 2004 since I last heard from you.....now how on Gods green earth can you have had your interviews on July 2003 and STILL not had the BGI? ? This is making little sense....I would assume that something didn't turn out.....can you enlighten us what it was, mostly for the educational value of it.
