Ya that pursuit/ restraint simulation is pretty much comparable to the real stuff.. Last summer I was chasing a suspect and cleared a fence and tackled him. He started to resiste and that is when the push and pull simulation came into play. ;D.. Thanx for the tips about the a aptitude test.
Just another question. During the panel interview do they ask you all 5 questions pertaining to their (these) competencies (behavioral style questions)??
Initiative Making active attempts to influence events to achieve goals: self-starter rather than accepting passively; taking action to achieve goals beyond what is required; being proactive.
Tenacity Staying with a position or plan of action until the desired objective is acheived or is no longer reasonably attainable.
Tolerance for Stress Maintaining stable performance under pressure and/or opposition (such as time pressure or job ambiguity); relieving stress in a manner that is acceptable to the person, others, and the organization.
Teamwork/Collaboration Working effectively with a team/work group or those outside formal line of authority (e.g., peers, senior managers) to accomplish organizational goals; taking actions that respect the needs and contributions of others; contributing to and accepting the consensus; subordinating own objectives to the objectives of the organization or team.
Judgement/Problem Solving Committing to an action after developing alternative courses of action that are based on logical assumptions and factual information and that take into consideration resources, constraints, and organizational values.

Yep. The CPS interview is approx an hour long, 1 question on each comp, plus a "tell us about you" at the beginning and a "why should we hire you" at the end. You should have a total of 7 questions for the entire interview, unless some of your answers aren't what they are looking for, then you'll get a new one. Of course this is all based on information from officers and other applicants, take it for what its worth, but I think its fairly accurate.

Well, The application package went in today, should arrive at CPS by Friday and we'll see where/when it goes from there. My husband passed the PARE on Tuesday wayyyyy better than the first time he ran it. Running laps really helped and going to the practise to get the push/pull technique. He also had his eye exam done and PASSED! This is bizarre since as of last year he would have failed but his eyes have actually gotten better. He still has laser surgery on Thursday though, figuring he dosen't want them to change for the worse before the occupational medical (being optimistic )and fail in the end only to have to have it done then and wait 3 months before training. I guess we'll see where the timeline goes from here D's Wife

His time this run was 3:54 which was a whole 41 seconds faster than his first try two weeks ago. Amazing what knowing what your in for can do for you! There was a guy there running for RCMP which did it in 3:23 and my husband says it was an amazing display of speed, no lap slower than 19 seconds, he was flying all the way until the end including the falls. Gives something to shoot for if my hubby has to re-run it in 6 mths to keep it up to date ;D.
Hey, April starts tomorrow. Are you feeling ready for your interview Journey, getting eagerly impatient yet?

Still a good time! Tell him congrats! I told you it gets better every time, well in total time anyways I suprised myself that I was able to take off 21 secs and get down to 3:26 the second time I ran it. There was a guy running for CPS when I went that did it in 2:52!!! and he wasn't even that tired afterwards! I'm thinking he's a cyborg or something... Ahh yes, my interview on Monday...I feel I'm ready for it, but I think I'm more nervously impatient than eagerly impatient . Everyday it gets closer I get a little more nervous... I haven't failed ANY interview yet and I don't plan on starting now damnit!

Hey everyone, sorry for the late reply, but I wasn't really in a posting mood yesterday Unfortunately I'm not continuing in the process with CPS at this time. Yep, I got a 2 year defferal. Didn't have quite what they were looking for in my examples, so I'll have to try again. As it stands right now I haven't decided 100% what I want to do...I'm ellegible to re-apply to RCMP in July, so I might go that route, or I might look into something other than law enforcement. Who knows...Ehhh, still kinda bummed I'll be back later.

Wow, 2 years, that's lousy Sorry to hear it didn't go well. Interviewing is such a subjective thing, especially when it comes to life experience examples....makes me nervous for when my hubby gets to that stage. He applied with customs a couple years back with the same type of interview and didn't get past it after passing all the other stages so I know the interview can be rough. Well, (beware, cliche coming, brace yourself), keep your chin up and focus on the future. All the best! D's Wife

Just out of curiosity, how do the interview results work? Do you do the interview and the send you out for 1/2 an hour or whatever while they talk about you and then they tell you the result or do they leave and come back while you sit and sweat? Gee, I feel like we've all taken a hit with your interview J Keep us posted on what you decide to do in the meantime. D's Wife

Look on the bright side. At least it was the interview and not the poly! If it was the poly you would not be able to apply again in two years.

Hey Journey,
I'm really sorry to hear about your bad luck in the interview, that royally sucks! But I have sHey Journey,
I'm really sorry to hear about your bad luck in the interview, that royally sucks! But I have some good news... apparently the RCMP has just advised they've lowered the wait time for deferrals as a result of RMSIG from two years to one year! Contact the recruiter and see if that impacts you directly, because it might mean you could reapply with the redcoats sooner than you thought you might!

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. D's Wife: The interview results works just like you stated. They ask you to leave the room while they discuss the interview then call you back in and let you know the results. macguy: I never got an actual "deferal" with the RCMP, since I passed both the RMSI and security intervews, it was an inellegibilty to get a security clearance due to a policy with the security unit. So I was only inellegible for 11 months, and that is done on July 11th of this year. Just need to decide what I want to do for the future...
