Well I guess no one else is looking at CPS at the moment... not sure why.... Glen where are you???! Anyways, little update on CPS, went to the info session last night, just to see if there have been any changes, and there haven't been. However there was some interesting stuff. A few things I wasn't aware of... Starting salary has been increased to over $40,000 which starts on first day of recruit classes. The only extra charges during training are for a couple of books, and is between $200-$400. Thats it! Not $2000 like some agencies... Just cause your the new guy/girl doesn't mean you get stuck with all the crappy shifts. The shifts are for your entire team (8-10 cst + a sgt) so it doesn't mattter if you have 2 months or 20 years everyone on the shift has a set rotation of days nights and afternoons... And best of all CPS is taking an average of 2 months from application to conditional offer, and a whopping 4 months if you have some delays..... So I've gotten just about all my forms filled out in good, and will be running my PARE around the middle of Oct. So if all goes well I could be in a training class by Jan or Feb of '04! Here's hoping I mean planning. J2CPS

Good for you! I am glad that you are moving forward. My CPS application is all filled out ready to go should I get "the letter". But, all in all, I've always wanted to be a County Mountie GRC (Gravel Road Cop) so it is worth the long "no news is good news" wait! Good Luck!

Man has the board been quiet lately...
Update on my process, Have my PARE booked for the 22nd of this month and then the package will go in on the 23rd. I should get a test date for around the begining of Nov, and then hopefully the interview will be around the middle of Nov. That's it for right now, not much to say since I haven't handed in the package yet. I have everything filled out and ready to go though.
I got another ride along with CPS on the 1st of Nov, hopefully it's a little busier than my last couple...Its on a Sat from 1300 to 2300 hrs so it SHOULD be...
No one else applying to CPS yet?? What's goin on! ;D

Hey journey2CPS
I went to UFC to watch the PARE yesterday. Believe me there were plenty of people applying for CPS.
If I am not mistaken, there were only 4 applicant for RCMP and about 18 CPS applicants.
I just think that the process is so quick, that most people tend not to look for a support group, such as this forum. Then again, maybe the word has not gotten out yet about the forum.
Good luck with your PARE! Jag

J2CPS-- Saw your site. Looks nice and professional especially with all of the CPS-related images. I am not familiar with CPS BUT,...if I may offer a suggestion and food for thought: I am not completely familiar with rules, regs or applicable laws which pertain to what one can or cannot put on one's web site BUT, I suspect it is a possibility that your site could be mistakenly identified as being an "official" CPS affiliated web site. Therefore, I would recommend perhaps adding some sort of a disclaimer on the home page section of your site. You know, something that covers the bases that may include a statement with something to the effect of: "This is a personally owned web site and is not owned by nor affiliated with CPS." I am not certain if you'll ever encounter any personal or legal problems if you don't have a disclaimer added to your site BUT you never know! Just my thoughts on the issue...course, it's your web site and you can do whatever you wish! ;D However, I'd seriously consider the disclaimer. -- Charlie

Jag - I know there is lots applying just would be nice to actually talk to some of them...gonna be takin this website address with me to the PARE damnit!! ;D Only 4 people running for RCMP? Holy crap...there were 20-25 when I ran for RCMP, and only around 15 for CPS...things seem to be changing, perhaps the wait is getting to some people or turning people off of RCMP??? Charlie - I hear what your saying about the site, and you do raise a valid point. I think I will heed your advice and add the disclaimer to the home page...just in case...

Yes, I think the wait is an issue for many applicants. I overheard a few conversation regarding the wait between CPS and Mounties. Of course, there is also the issue of mobility for certain applicants.
I also got the impression that there were many people running it for the second or third time. After all there are no restriction on when you can rerun the PARE, if one is to fail.
