Definitely not five years needed before you can get into a speciality unit....
I have seen tons at 2-3 years and a quite a few even sooner.

That sounds pretty swell Jack. Its just too bad this forum seems to be dying off. I would really like to hear about other applicants in the same time frame as I am. I enjoy reading all the previous posts BUT those are from years ago. Oh... by-the-way, what stage of the application are you currently pondering?

I put my app. in back in July of 2005. Form Sept.05 to Feb. 06 I had all my testing and whatnot done. I just re-ran my PARE in July and I am now just currently waiting for some kind of response from recruiting. Things for myself moved pretty quick in F Div. then it was like hitting a brick wall. haven't hear nothing since then.

I just fired off an email inquiring about the status of my application just moments ago. So maybe I can get some kind of info. beside "It's still in the security stage". Other than re-running the PARE back in July..... THATS ALL!

I got reply from my email 2-Fridays ago saying that I should hear something from recruiting with-in 2 weeks, but whatever I guess! Does anyone know what BLOC RECRUITING is? Does it have anything to do with locations and minorities. I asked some ex-members and no could really give a me good answer. Also, I wanted to know about other applicants physical training routes prior to depot. How much miles per week does one run? How many times does one go to the gym? I run about 4-5 miles at time(depends on how I feel). At an avg. of 9 min. miles 2-3 times per week. I don't know if that is good enough or not, so I was wanting feed back from other applicants.

I got a call from recruiting yesterday and the Cpl. who I talked to just wanted to ask me a question for some clarification. He then said he would be forwarding my app. to the Sgt. desk and that I would have an answer within a week for a possible training date. I guess this is crunch-time!
