Yeah they gave me reasons for it, however 90% of the things they had problems with happened 8-10 years ago, guess that's not long enough to show change... The problem with the entire process is that even though you pass the interviews (RMSI and Security) the Cpl that does the final review on your file (and has NEVER met you in person and doesn't know you from a hole in the wall) will just look at all the information collected and either agree with the interviewer or disagree (Assuming you were 100% honest about your past in the interviews), and then will either clear you or defer you. I got the latter...Even though the retired Inspector that interviewed me said that I should be ok with my past, since it was so long ago... Oh well, shit happens, carry on. My deferal with CPS is up in Apr so I'll probably try there again. Good luck to everyone else, and don't assume your are going to Depot until they phone you and give you a date.  |

sept 18th 2004- rpat
oct 20 results-passed got package
dec 9 -pare 4:44 barely passed
jan 11th 2005-interview, both, passed
feb 15th- psych passed
march 16th-med and dent passed
may 12- second pare 3:59 helluva lot better than first
june, july, august -waiting waiting waiting and still waiting.
Is it normal to be waiting for four months with nothing changing. Do some people require a third pare. I have emailed recruiting about every two weeks because they keep telling me i should hear something in two weeks, but that was at the start of june!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

keep waiting... perhaps call them rather than email them and ask. I am waiting for my final call and it's been about 3 weeks...maybe they are backed up in the background stage....who knows... I know it really sucks...waiting like you, I start to second guess myself or think of all types of stupid reason as to why I haven't been called.... just try to be patient, it will come...you just gotta believe in the system!! haha.  |

Yeah I used to call but they seemed to get a little annoyed so i started emailing. I do start to second guess myself and wonder, what I may have left out or if one of my references lied (I am sure they didnt).

going through this for the second time - fun, fun, fun! aug 03 - applied first time oct 03 - wrote RPAT scored 4.11 nov 03 - info pkg dec 03 - psch test jan 04 - got called for PARE ; wasn't supposed to go till end of march. PARE in 3:55 with bonchitis feb 04 - RMSI - passed mar 04 - medical and dental exams - passed apr 04 - BGI starts may 20, 2004 - the dreaded 1 year deferal letter because of the number of jobs i've had in the past 10 years.  Called depot and talked to the coproral in charge and was told to keep the same job for a year and then he really wanted to see me reapply in a year's time. So, may 05 - reapply jun 05 - write RPAB - found it much easier because I was not nearly as nervous this time. Lets play the waiting game again! aug 6 - ran pare - passed sept 14 - rmsi scheduled RMSI PASSED AGAIN! Nov 1 - medical and dental passed Nov 16 - psch test (no worries) the waitng hasn't driven me crazy yet, but it's coming close. |

That sucks 'cause I am in contact with a recruiter that was assigned to my file. She told me to call/email her whenever I have any sort of questions...so I do just that and she never hesitates. It has been really nice to have her and she seems to understand what I/we go through so it makes it easier when I ask questions etc. I wouldn't worry about it....soon. |

I was really sorry to read about what happened to you journey.I can't understand why they would do that to you!Is there any kind of an appeal process that you can file?Somebody who went as far in the process as you did may have that kind of an option open to them.You should check it out as soon as possible!YOU WILL GET HIRED JOURNEY I KNOW YOU WILL!Calgary probably will hire you but have you also considered Edmonton or Vancouver?The whole process is so frustrating isn't it?  |

Frustrating doesn't begin to describe it...There is an appeal process with the RCMP however it rarely ever results ina decision being overturned. After thinking more about it, I've decided that I think I will be happier i a muni force so it's probalby for the best that the RCMP didn't accept me. I like living in Calgary, and would love to be an officer here, so I'll just have to see what happens...I've looked at other forces too, but I'm not crazy about living in Vancouver adn well, Edmonton is Edmonton... . I'm may look at Saskatoon or Regina as well. Time will tell...but I agree with you, I WILL get hired it's just a question of where. |
