You are right, journey2depot, I have mentioned that I am in 'D' before. The handing out of packages has little to do with assuming all will pass the rpab and more to do with the amount of applicants. The #'s are low, so even if you fail your rpab, a year deferral would come that much sooner to reapply. And if you pass, it just moves along the process quicker so you can go to depot quicker; the assumtion is that you will come home to work in manitoba. This makes the most sense to me. I don't really care where I go, I just want it...I'll where ever they want me to go! But given the chance, I'd love to come home.

Well hopefully you can make it back to "D", but I think they are only sending 3 or 4 per troop to Manitoba. Since you're from there your chances are good, but you could still end up in "E" or "K"...I hear Ft MacMurray is taking 12 cadets from the July troops, so to any cadets scheduled for those troops, remember to paint your cardboard box with a good water proof paint, and remember that newspaper makes a great insulator!

For sure. Im game for whatever. I don't mind doing a stint up north if thats the case. Im sure all of us are in the same boat when it comes to this, we also all have our preferences. What stage are you at there Journey? Where are your top three preferences?

My BGI is about 95% done, then its the waiting game. I'm guessing for an Aug/Sept troop. My preferences ... Well Alberta's my first choice and since I live here its pretty much guaranteed I'll come back here. I'd like to get Red Deer or Innisfail, but anywhere south of Edmonton or better yet, south of Red Deer, would be ideal...not counting on that though!

going through this for the second time - fun, fun, fun!
aug 03 - applied first time oct 03 - wrote RPAT scored 4.11 nov 03 - info pkg dec 03 - psch test jan 04 - got called for PARE ; wasn't supposed to go till end of march. PARE in 3:55 with bonchitis feb 04 - RMSI - passed mar 04 - medical and dental exams - passed apr 04 - BGI starts may 20, 2004 - the dreaded 1 year deferal letter because of the number of jobs i've had in the past 10 years. Called depot and talked to the coproral in charge and was told to keep the same job for a year and then he really wanted to see me reapply in a year's time.
So, may 05 - reapply jun 05 - write RPAB - found it much easier because I was not nearly as nervous this time. Lets play the waiting game again!
April 30/05 - RPAT - recieved package that day May 20/05 - RPAB results (passed) May 25/05 - psych & submited package June 2/05 - PARE (passed) June 18/05 - RMSI & Security - (passed)

Does anyone know how long a file takes to get reviewed. My file has been waiting for review since the beginning of june. They keep telling my about two weeks but it has been almost 2 months. As far as they keep telling me that is the only step I have left. Just a final review...............
I'm still waiting for my files to be returned for final approval. I've had no bites in 3 weeks...who knows!!! I am praying it's soon, I'd really like that date so I can quit and enjoy my summer sitting outside rather than at a desk....it's an understatement for me to say I can't wait to quit my job!

Hi Amanjee- Did your file finish the BGI in Ontario? Mine has and was sent to Ottawa for a (final?) security review.. email me if you want to chat about it- I think we're both pretty close.. phatcat_ca (at) yahoo.ca

Its funny because I don't know what they do for a final review, but I don't understand why it takes 2 months. My file was done the end of may, thats what they told me. I don't want to keep calling, but it makes a guy wonder if they misplaced it or if it fell in the trash or what he heck. I have had 15 traffic tickets in my 29 years, but none as recent as five years ago, thats about the worst I have done. In my interview they told me it would not affect my application since the last one I received was five years ago. I don't think this could be the reason it is taking so long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey..I just PM'd you. As far as I know, my file is complete and will be going for signature. I just heard last week from the remainder of my references, so hopefully that's it.
and more waiting......

What!? Journey, you passed everything up to that point and they still sent you packing? Why would they do that? My BGI is going right now and I'd hate to think they can just say "well, you did well on everything come back in a year." Did they give you a reason?
Journey....I am sooooo sorry to read about your news!!! Did they give you any indication of what happened to your file? Have you applied somewhere else and been denied?
