mav, ya you know me, i was one of biggest repliers on this forum. To embarressed to state my user name. too piss off. still can't believe it...I can't see how everyone who pass has a perfect score on all comps. I mean if you show this and that, strong on here here and here but a little soft here, over all, this person is good candidate. But they remove all the getting to know you out of it, and just stick to the comps..which is fine, but what about, this is what Ive done, this is what i am doing....I showed this in the comp that I failed. But he was looking for something in particular which I didn't have, or it was too far back. I just didn't have that clencher in one of the comps, maybe someone else would of said yep I see it...while he said nope not quite Does the people who passed felt they were strong in all the comps? Like, so how do you think you did? well, over all I believe I showed that I have what it takes, done the right things, stayed out of trouble etc some anwsers a little soft, some really strong, but overall good.... well you just didn't have the wow in one of the comps, all the others yes, but on one, no....failed... I felt I showed such and such,,yeah, but it wasn't the clencher I was looking for....your close, but just not what I was hoping for.......so due to his interpitation on one part of the comp Iam out of it....its so fustrating to say the least. Tell me, how does a 19 year old kid from Mickey Ds pass this interview? Well I am in charge of the fries....well you will make a great cop.....as you can tell that is a bit of sarcasim.......but you get what I mean. There should be more than one person in the interview. The other person may have said, you know, I believe he showed this part of the comp. and discussed it with each other. but unfortuantly there is only one. So its up to him/her to interpete your anwsers. I believe I showed this in the comp that I failed, but he just didn't see it. anyhow, I am out. thats it out..failed it..pissed off. bs

Guest, if your still around, did you get the "never apply again" or the 2 year def? Your RPAT, PARE score, and volunteer stuff sound like mine. I failed the suitability interview a few years ago, was disappointed but not bitter. I just improved myself over the two years and re-did the whole app process....now I am just completing my field investigation. I couldn't let a dream go.
I also just failed on comp my first time around...........and the interviewer said I did very well on the rest. So dude, if this is what you want and your rejection wasn't like "never apply again", well, you have a couple years to figure it out.........what was your username anyway? It will identify you as much as the username 'guest' has.

hmmmm, onedaysoon has posted since his interview date and awaiting the med forms so I don't think he is the guest..... but I could be wrong . Either way, it's too bad......there was a person that had the same thing happen to them, they didn't wow them on one question (somewhere back on this thread) and did really well on the others and they were deferred. What about everyone else, any news? Dragon, are you getting excited for your interview? Isn't it the 21st or 23rd of this month? Good luck.

sorry everyone, but it was me who failed....I can apply next year and start from step one...my first time I wrote I got a 3.5 and didn't make it, the cut off was 3.7. So I waited a year and rewrote. 4.29.....but was soft on one of the comps....I just don't know what to do...I am in my mid thirties now....a year to wait to write, then another year to wait for an interview... The rcmp has to pick up the slack and speed the recruiting up. To make some one wait a year after the written test is absurd....I don't know if I can put my life on hold. I may try another department. The department is hiring now where I am a reserve at, so I will try there....maybe Vancouver is starting to look better....this is a real blow to me..right in the ####s My file manager couldn't wait to get me out to depot fast enough, but he couldn't do the interview. I will talk with him and thank him for everything....otherwise, well thats about it....
To everyone else, best of luck to ya, you'll need it. G

Don't give up cndcop2be! Apply at Vancouver, New West, Delta, Abbotsford, Port Moody...heck maybe even outside of the Lower Mainland (Sannich, Calgary). I won't worry too much about your age...when I was at the Vancouver info session the recruiter said that they had a guy who was 45 years old who ran their POPAT the fastest that he had every saw and I believe he was successful in joining the VPD. If you really want to be a Mountie....try to get into the municipal depts and apply to be a Mountie in 3 years. But don't give up if this is something that you really want to do!

Hi All! Spent a week reading all 80+ pages, and thought I'd register and introduce myself. I've really enjoyed following everyone's stories. My timeline: Feb 5 2002 - Info session March 5 2002 - RPAT May 24 2002 - Receive application pkg June 10 - PARE (4:30, ugh!) June 11 - send in completed pkg. Nov. 19 - Security Interview Jan. 23 - Selection Interview, deferred for the mandatory two years. (AGH!) So technically I guess I'm not even in the process anymore, but I feel like I am! I'm in the same waiting boat as most of you, except you're waiting to finish, and I'm waiting to start....LOL I never did get my RPAT marks in the mail despite trying to get ahold of them twice, so I've never seen a breakdown of my score. Despite going down in flames in the Interview, I had the presence of mind to ask if she had my mark, and found it was a 4.33. Kind of a bittersweet token to take away with me, but I'm glad I asked! Cdncop2be, I know how you feel. I didn't make it for the same reason, just a little soft on just ONE comp. I couldn't even talk about it for 2 months, and even seeing a cruiser would make my chest ache. Definitely grieve and be mad, but don't let bitterness burn your bridges. And DON'T make any decisions about quitting yet. I really felt like I was done, and I couldn't do this again, but it just won't let me go, so here I wait. It might be the same for you. Hey, it might be meant to be! Chin up. Looking forward to posting regularly. Even stalled as I am in the process, I have good info/advice to pass on! And I can live vicariously through you guys and gals. Nice to meet you all, Rexina

- Integrity and Honesty
- Interpersonal Skills
- Service Orientation
- Personal Effectiveness and Flexibility
- Thinking Skills
- Leadership
- Oral Communication
Further details can be found in the "Prepartory Guide for the RCMP Regular Member Selection Interview" guide posted on the RCMP website.

Rexina,
I feel the same way, I can hardly talk about it. I have worked so hard to get here and to get booted out is hard to take. Another interviewer might of saw it different..but nothing I can do now. I will try Calgary, my deferral ends in August, try try and try again. They had concerns last year, I guess I failed to convince them that I wouldn't move back to the west coast....so I will try again. I would love to live in Calgary, I think its a great city.... Thanks for the pep talk, but its still really hard to talk about it. Got to find something to take my mind off of it..

As most you, I feel for cdncop2be. Sometimes it can be a tough break . However, as I mentioned in another post that things do go wrong and there are always things to be learned. Cdncop2be, I am sure you will never every fail the same comp again.
However, it is also important to have a plan of action. What is my direction going to be? Can I take courses that will help me re-direct? Or could I simply apply to the another force?
As for being too old to try again. I don't know if you are every too old to dream. This is my second time around and believe me I know how Cdncop2be is feeling. Even second time around I have had my fair share of difficulties. The fact is, even if one gets accepted there are going to obstacles ahead of us. However, it's that little dream that keeps us going.
I would treated like the begining of your journey rather than the end. Only difference is that knowledge is power and you have more tools under your belt!
However, there is nothing wrong with mourning a lost. I was deferred for a year but I took two years.

Does anybody know what the recruitment situation is for Ontario? Am I at a disadvantage here for applying as an O division applicant?
