Has anyone completed their interview in E division lately? I was just wondering if the security and suitablity are scheduled in the same day or not.

hi ... this question is about background check ...
I just had a managemnt change in my office, i use to get along with the previous manager just fine and he was one of me refs .. ,my current manager is kind of a prick(well he hates me as he thinks i wanted his job). I explained this to my recruiter and requeted that they talk to my prvious boss ( which they did)............ just this week my current boss found out i have applied to RCMP ,,,and he just came to me and said " if RCMP come to talk to me ....I will fuck you " ........................................ Now the question if they have spoken to my old boss and all they other refs will they still talk to my boss and what happens of he lies to them? ........... thank you

Not sure about this, but isn't that against the law, isn't it slander if he says something that is untrue about you....techinically you could sue somebody over that right?

yyzkfaz, I got this information for you off a legal question website, hope it helps. Good luck.
WHAT IS "DEFAMATION"? Defamation, sometimes called "defamation of character", is spoken or written words that falsely and negatively reflect on a living person's reputation.
If a person or the news media says or writes something about you that is understood to lower your reputation, or that keeps people from associating with you, defamation has occurred. Slander and libel are two forms of defamation.

Has anyone completed their interview in E division lately? I was just wondering if the security and suitablity are scheduled in the same day or not. Reb I think that depends on a number of factors, not the least of which is your and your interviewer's schedules. I was given the option to do both in the same day, as my interviewer had the time available, but if I wanted to do one at a time I would have had to wait until the following "recruiting trip" to northern BC - usually once every few months. She gave me pros and cons for choosing either way, but needless to say, I chose to do both at the same time! And it doesn't have anything to do with why I didn't make the Selection Interview Rexina

Hello all, Just looking for advice on what to wear to the interview. I was planning on wearing a nice shirt and tie with dress pants. Do you think that I should wear a sports jacket as well Any advice would be great, thanks. Tim

Tim: I have not been through the interview stage yet but those I have spoken to who have all say the same thing...dark suit or sport jacket...definetly go with a business dress as opposed to business casual (missing the jacket). I think this applies to most interviews, I can tell you from a management point of view and having conducted interviews myself, first impression holds a lot of weight...clean cut, sharply dressed, strong confident handshake including eye contact during the shake...can't beat that. Also watch for nervous habits such as clicking a pen or bouncing your leg or scratching your head etc...all are annoying and destract the interviewer from the answer and some actions indicate deception. sorry...went a little beyound your inquiry...but hope this helps...
Best of luck during your interview...be sure to let us all know how you made out.

Dragon,
I would recommend wearing a conservative blazer or sports jacket. I just think it gives the shirt and the tie a finishing touch. Dark blue is usually a good bet.
However, you have to feel comfortable and confident in what you are wearing. After all that is how you want the interviewer to see you!
Good luck with the interview! ;)Jag

Sorry to hear the news cdncops2be.
I am also mid 30's. Went through the whole damn process to be deferred because of what some CPS wanna be polygrapher wrote about me but you have all heard this story ten times over.
People on this board can't begin to understand the emotion of being deferred for something so rediculous until it happens to you personaly.
I too know of 20 years olds, not holding a bloody job throughout the application process who are now RCMP officers already trying to quit and get into other forces because they are so young and want to chase and beat up bad guys. Small town Canada not exciting enough for them when I would have been tickled pink to be policing a geriatric ward for false teeth violations.
The RCMP application process has serious flaws. A one time misunderstanding like what happen in your interview screws you for life. I say for life because at our age, putting your life on hold for another 2-3 years is out of the question. There should be a panel interiew of at least two people.
RCMP doesn't pay for training. Qualified mature applicants with careers, families, mortgages can barely afford to not collect a paycheck for 6 months and then accept a pay cut when you start getting paid the starting wage of around 37,000 a year. The system is tailored to accepting younger people without these sort of responsibilities and life experiences.
People holding career jobs have a very tought time trying to attend all the separate interviews, physicals, PARE exams, etc. I used almost two weeks vacation doing all that. Trying to keep from your bosses that you are trying to get a job elsewhere starts to take its toll and affect your current working relationship.
The very length of the process is comical. And then to tell a 30 years old we have to defer you for a year or two to gain experience while 20 year olds are getting accepted is a real kick in the face.
Don't start responding and telling me to "take this crap to another thread". Until it happens to you you really ahve no idea what it feels like. Hopefully some of you reading this who get in can one day remember some of the negative written here and exact some change should you ever get posted to recruiting.
The RCMP are missing out of some great applicants. It is going to hurt for a while cdncop2be. Sorry.

cdncop2be, WTF!! I was sure you would nail it!! I'll email you later tonight...I was "weak" on one of my comps too (Thinking Skills!?!) but still passed. It is TOTALLY up to the interviewer though. My interviewer was thinking about that comp, and decided that everything else balanced it out and still gave me a passing score...I'm still floored that with all your experiences, and being a reserve Cst they found you weak on something.... ...makes me very angry.... Guest, I would hope that no-one would say to take your previous post to another thread...it is QUITE a bit different from the poly stuff. I can only imagine the pain and emotions with a defferal. I have been lucky so far, but still have quite away to go. I had one issue that came up during my security int, that my interviewer was OK with but he said that a field investigator may have a different opinion. For myself, I have been preparing myself for a deferal since I wrote the RPAT. If it does happen then I'm not going to sit around for another 2 years waiting. I'll be putting my app into CPS 3 months later, and, if I get accepted, could have already been a Cst with CPs for over a year before I would even be elligble to write RPAT again. I deffinetly agree that the RCMP app process needs some major improvements. They are going to bwe losing 5000, or one quarter, of their officers in the next 10 years. Without speeding up the process, they are going to be pooched...12 - 18 months is too long to wait for someone who is past the mid 20's, and I know for a fact that Edmonton police were running around 4 months from exam to employment, just over a year ago. I was told this by one of the recruiters. My thoughts not yours.... J2D

cdncop2be,
I know exactly how you feel. In fact our situations are almost identical. I scored 4.29 on the RPAT, ran the PARE in 3:19. When I met my file manager to hand in the package she got my heart racing a bit and my hopes up when she asked, "Are you ready to go at any time? It could be less than a month after the interview." Well, two weeks later I had the interview. I was in there for 5 hours. Got the phone call 3 days later. Failed! Pretty devastating as you stated yourself. And it does take a long time to get over it. That was over a year ago and I still think about it. I got the 2 year deferral so I can't even write the RPAT till 2004.
I was positive I would make it based on my RPAT, PARE results in combination with the fact I am already an RCMP Civilian Member, I voluntered with Ottawa Police for 7 years, martial arts student, community volunteer...etc. But, it all comes down to one person's interpretation, opinion of you. That one person has the power to say yes you're in to fulfill your dream or nope, nice try, but come back in 2 years.
Myself, I probably won't try again. I will be 44 years old this fall. I know you hear of the odd person in their fourties who does make it but..... And I am an RCMP C/M who already has a salary equivalent to a first class constable. Of course its not about the money but I also have to think about my career coming to an end in the next 15 years too. Gotta plan for that pension! Plus if I didn't have two kids who will be starting college in about 5 years and the mortgage etc, then I would probably go for it again.
So, I just bide my time checking in here to see how everyone else is doing. I wish all applicants nothing but the best of luck. Its good to see the successes for sure. Wish I had been one of them too. For those not successfull yet, keep trying. Learn from your experiences and make yourself an even better applicant for the next time.
