Thank you for sharing the information Mrs. Jamaf, it clears up alot of my questions.
Please say hi to Cst. Jamaf for me, I actually came across his website last month before I stumbled upon this message board a few weeks ago. Jamaf's site offers a great deal of insight as to what depot is like.
I have a great interest in law enforcment, it is probably the grade 7 class visit to the newly built police station (11 years ago) that got me started.
Last month I attended the information session and scheduled the rpat for late August. I don't know how competitive is it with regards to the rpat score for o division, but as always I will plan for the worst and hope for the best.
Regards,
Bas

YC, In order to apply to any Ontario police force, you must write the test here. In terms of competition, there are alot of people who pass the physical and aptitude tests. However, many are eliminated through the next steps in the selection process (including background). So, if you think you are a competitive candidate, you should do well. Also, being female is a big plus. Rebel, I got 4.14 in composition and 4.26 in logic. We won't discuss my memory score Also, using your method didn't get me to my final score

Rebel, Good try on the rpat calculation....however, if I do that, my comfortable 4.11 turns into a 3.89. Good theory though, I'll have to play more with the numbers when I am bored...really bored. Something to do with the extra points for the judgement questions I think...........

Isn't Judgement worth 2 pts compared to 1pt for everything else? I still haven't got my RPAT mark back yet...but when I do I'll have to sit and scratch my head at it as well. ;D
Quick question here; I work in loss prevention and just arrested a shoplifter and a Cst came to take him away. She had just graduated from depot 3 months ago (April) and she was working by herself. I always thought that a new Cst. had to have a mentor for the first 6 months? I picked her brain about her depot experience, but didnt think of this till later. Well, till next time...I'll be busy staring at my mail slot.

They are 'supposed' to be with a field trainer for the first 6 months. But I know Cst's who had 5 days in the same car, then was just supervised.

Pesky, in a perfect world, new officers would be with a FTO for their whole training period. However, with the shortage of officers, sometimes there isnt that option. Don't get too anxious...if you wrote the RPAT after March 15 then the earliest you'll get an application is November.

How long a recruit ends up spending with his or her trainer is completely dependant on how they do.
I have seen someone spend a week while the next one spent months... both at the same detachment.

I agree with me guest but it may also have something to do with shoplifting being a low priority call.

Had the selection interview....Failed it...its BS....if you are soft on one of the comps you fail the interview. I was told I got 7 out of the 8 comps but was soft on one of them...end result...Failed the interview.. I did not have a WOW holy crap really...for one of them....my example went to far back.... Your score doesn't mean a god damn thing in the interview or how fast you ran the pare or that you passed the secruity/reliabilty interview. If you don't wow the interviewer on all 8 comps....to bad so sad out the door see ya, thanks for coming... I am devestated....I scored 4.3 on the rpat 3.20 on the pare. Have three years in volunteer work with the rcmp, etc...volunteer work didn't matter. I waited three years for this interview....put my life on hold for three years. Gave up other prosperous employment so it wouldn't interfer with my goal....all for nothing.... thats about it for now, too pissed off to talk about it. I have cancelled my user name from this site as I am no longer in the process. I am too old for this shit. C'ya
