What does that policeprep web site say about polygraph strategies?

Hey guys and gals, Glad to see that this forum is heading back in the direction, as it was started for ... a support/question forum. J2D ... good luck on your interview and keep us posted. I've been seeing alot of high RPAT marks getting posted here lately. It makes me wonder if they will soon change the format of the exam ... anybody hear that? But good for the guys & gals that are scoring the high marks!!! Ace13

Ace13:
Congratulations on the successful journey in becoming a member of the rcmp. As I was reading the postings of this forum from the start, I saw the kind of obstacles faced by the members of this forum and how they defeat these problems. The timelines are great documentations of the recruitment process.
Question: Now that you have been on the job for a while, what are some of your likes and dislikes about this new career?

Well....... LONG time no post. ;D I am well into week #3 of actual police work. I can't believe it. It just seems like yesterday that I came across this board and noticed Ace13's post. Work is great. The learning curve is steep. Very steep. I sometimes feel like I am back in week one of depot. I am slowly getting to know my way around town and I already know a few of the "regular" clients. I really cant wait until I feel comfortable in what I am doing or what I need to do. Things are slightly different from the depot way, as I expected. I have had some interesting calls from being the first on a major accident to being called out to a marine rescue during a storm on the lake.
For all you RCMP hopefuls there is light at the end of the tunnel. ITS A LONG tunnel believe me but worth it.
Good Luck

Well, I did the psych test this week (MMPI-2). All 500+ questions. My advice for this is not to research the test too much (there is stuff on the web and in psych books regarding this test). You can read too much into the questions. Otherwise I think I did well, it is always interesting to have your mind probed in other ways beyond the academic/knowledge stuff.
About the police test prep books, they are all decent from what I can tell. None parallel the RPAT, but they do touch on similar areas.
I agree with the others, it is good to see that other 'police issues' have toned down.....and maybe have started there own tread.
Just a note on decriminalization of pot, although it is not in effect as of yet, even when it comes into effect I would assume that the RCMP would view past use as it does today...you did it when it was illegal. It is not a reflection of what the law is today but a reflection of how you treated a law when it was in effect.

Hey everyone,
Sorry about the late post...had to work right after my interview yesterday, and didn't get home until late...anyways, I passed both the selection and security interviews!! Feel alot better about everything now. It was a long day and I was totally exhausted afterward, physically and mentally! The selection interview was just over 3 hours and the security was just under 3 hours! Nothing like sitting at a table and being questioned for 6 hours! The selection interview went pretty good. it was pretty much what I expected. The security interview was a little intense...I now know what an "interogation" is like! Oy...best advice for the security interview...stick to your guns and don't give more than what is asked. If the interviewer wants more info they will ask, all I can say is it's intense, or at least mine was anyway...
Thanks for all the good wishes and supporrt on this. Now I get to wait until the start calling refs. I was also told that I WILL have to take a poly, but I haven't been able to verify that yet?? I thought I had made it in to the second last block before the poly, but maybe not...and that I wouldn't get my medical package until after my BGI was complete? Anyone in "K" have different experiences or info regarding this (medical not poly)

Congrats J2D!!!
I am having trouble understanding what you are asking? My references didn't start being called until about 1 month after I had completed the medical, so I am guessing it would be about the same for you. Anyone that I know that has taken the poly for another police service has done it soon after the selection interview, right before the medical. I would imagine the RCMP would do it the same way.

Way to go J2D, I knew you would do fine. My security interview was only about one and a half hours. I wonder if they have changed it or maybe you had more to disclose than me. I received my medical package about a month and a half after finishing my interviews, a week after I handed in my medical package I started to hear reports from from family and neighbours that the RCMP had been inquiring about me. I hope things keep moving along for you.

Observer, Congrats on the 4.3x on the rpat. I came across the policeprep.com website a couple of weeks ago as well. Does it allow members to print out hard copy of the study material? What type of membership did you sign up for? The $50 trail membership is good for a week and it offers 1 practice exam only, while the $200 full membership has 5 practice exams and is valid for a year. Bas Hi, Yes, the site allows members to print off the study materials. I signed up for the full membership which also gives you access to the municipal police force exams...lots of em. And yes, you do get 5 practice RPAT exams.
