yyzkfaz,
How were you advised that your background investigation was complete, did you receive a phone call, or letter? Just wondering if they tell you that they are done and that you are going to continue on with the process.
Thanks.

hey all,
did anyone recieve an application package in May from E Division (BC) and have handed it in yet? If so have they setup your interview??.
The reason I asked is that I handed mine in on June 30 and I recieved a phone call from the recruiter on July 4 wanting me to call them. I did but I just got voice mail. I'm wondering if they are arranging for interviews already. If so that would be pretty quick. Or maybe I just screwed up on my forms or something.
Reb.

YC - the way things are going with staffing you can expect at least one year or more (Info Session to Depot).
Little bit of info for all who are waiting..
I was speaking to my file manager the other day, she told me that they have cancelled Troops in July and Aug Christmas break and Summer Holidays.
But they are sending troops again starting Aug 10.

YC,
I would apply right away.
The process takes about 2 years. That will give you time to get some life experience. As for smoking marijuana, I would leave it in the officers hand to defer you.
At least you will go through the recruiting process and get some first hand experience. That way you can redirect accordingly.
If you get in the first time around bonus!

Jag and onedaysoon,
I was told things are moving along and that my file was 2/3 complete. She also said that there is no reason why my file shouldn't be finished by the Diary Date July 12, and to expect to go in Aug?

Rebel, same thing happened to me. Mailed my application on a Monday, got a phone call the next Thursday.
I'm 99% sure that you forgot something in your application package. For me, they couldn't find my SIN number, so I gave it to them verbally. I'm still waiting for the interview phone call...

Jas How do they come up with this Diary Date? Jag Diary dates don't mean too much. Diary dates are usually just assigned by the Cpl overlooking the files. If they fail to meet it it will just be extended.

Congrats J2D on passing your interview ... keep your chin up and keep trucking along. My entire process took about 7 months . . . I was one of the lucky ones. I applied at the right time and everything happened quickly. With regards to life now as a police officer ... it's busy ...really busy. I can honestly say that I love it ... it's the best job in the world. Although when you are dealing with someone who's being a doink ... you almost don't think you have the best job. But it's satisfying when you catch bad guys or take drunk drivers off the road. The worst and probably a sad aspect of the job is knowing that good people get hurt or watching bad guys get off on charges through the court system. In Surrey, the file load is extremely heavy and it's hard to maintain your diary dates or do the followup that you sometimes want to do. I spend at least one full day on my block off in the office doing paper work. But I'm sure that's because I'm new and I'm learning how to balance my workload. So it's fun out beating the streets ... but the paperwork afterwards is sometimes not that much fun. It's just a matter of getting used to different forms and systems for each different crime. But I can definitely say that the pros outweigh the cons ... there's nothing like job satisfaction! Good luck to all! Ace13 p.s. congrats Jamaf ... knew you would make a great Cst.
