Dragon - The BC interior (Kootenay/Boundary area) is a beautiful place full of charismatic small towns with rich cultural heritage (Geeze, It sounds like I'm a tourist info book eh!). I can promise that anyone moving to BC will love the people and the towns/cities. The only problem any of my friends moving here have had are the mountain valleys. They feel "penned in" because they were used to open or flat rolling hills.
YC - I really doubt that anyone would have any problems with having homosexuals in the RCMP. I have many a good friend with a different sexual choice than myself and it doesnt bother me one bit. I think as long as they can handle the job they should join up! Noone here seems to be closed minded. Just my two cents.

YC - As long as you would have my back in a tense situation I couldn't care less if you were hetero or if you were into transvestite aliens in latex with whips. As long as I knew you would do your job and be there when needed....the same as anyone else! If people are "concerned" about your orientation, tell 'em to go **** themselves and follow your dream anyway!
OK, enough of the rant... ;D

Anyone know what info I will need to take with me for the security clearance interview?? I was just going to take my entire package that was sent to Edmonton, (my cpoies of the forms) but my wife mistakenly threw out the envelope that I had everything in!! The member that is doing my interview, asked me to bring the green security clearance form with me. Is he just looking for the addresses? Any ideas/help? (on what to bring, not the actual interview) Thanks

Jas,
Just that I would be going mid to late august. They will try to give me a month's notice. My medical expires around the end of august, so I am expecting a troop # in the next couple of weeks.

Jas, What if my wife accidently disposed of that form? Am I "screwed"? I talked to someone in Edmonton, and they said I shouldn't need it, but the member doing my interview said to bring it. Guess I'll just try to get a hold of the guy doing my interview, since Edmonton was not very helpful since in getting me a copy of the form

It's alright, I got it figured out...I think...all he's looking for is the names and numbers of the initial character refferences that I had on the security clearance form. Mine was green, I think its the 330-60 or something...the one that asks about past traffic offenses, foriegn holdings, etc...Ayways I think it will be all good. I found the info once, I'm sure I can find it again.

thanks for all your support~i felt so warm here. yeah, i suppose people who want to be an officer should be open-minded,but we never know.
i disclose my info to the recruiting officer, who happen to be a female, and she said "as long as you are ok and comfortable, we are. we are totally positive about gay and lesbian" she never offend me in anyway, instead if i join RCMP oneday, it is because of her way of talking to me.
well, i am easily identify because i look so butch.(hate to use this word but i think i have to admit that my look was too obvious)

I know it is difficult to not sterotype people but don't always assume that because you look "butch" people will think you are homosexual. Just look at Clay Aiken from American Idol!! I don't think he is gay but at times he looks more feminine than most of the married girls in my office! LOL I heard a stat (told to me from a male CPS officer) that around 1996-97 approximately 50 to 60% of the female officers in the CPS were homosexual. It was not a big deal what so ever so long as they could do the job. Hmm.. If I were an officer I would fight accepting lesbians into the force.. It just means greater compitition for me when we went to the bars for a few drinks after work!! LOL

How long is the medical valid for? When you re-ran the PARE did you have to get another medical clearance from your own Doctor or did the RCMP provide the medical clearance?
Another question, did you ever hear why it took so long for them process everything?
Thanks! ;D Jag

Jag I was told that Medicals are good for 1 year, since the PARE expires in 6 months most applicants should be able to use their first medical to complete the 2nd PARE exam.
