Hi guys, Thanks for the welcome on board. Dragon, you are right, the thing that impresses me the most about this forum is how supportive everyone is to all others regardless of our current standings in this process. Congratulations on getting your interview call.Good luck. I see you are from NB. I am originally from Fredericton, where are you from ? Journey2depot, I have been following your progress and I have been to your website too. I was surprised to read about your interview getting postponed. You must have been shocked. I am sure things will get back on track for you in August.

PeskyLPO, You asked if anyone had written their RPAT in the last few months, I wrote on March 15 in Vancouver and received my results 7 weeks later. My application package came one week after that. How do you feel you did on the test ?

Hey Dalex,
I am writing the RPAT next wednesday. I have been talking to some of the members of this site over the last couple of days, and the support that they give is overwelming. I find it very comforting to be able to chat with others about the long haul. I am confident, but not cocky, going into the test. It's been good for me to find this site.

Hey Jamjam, A fellow BC'er !Good luck on the test! Maybe someone has already mentioned this, but I bought a police exam practice book from Chapters and found it quite helpfull. Another word of advice I have is watch the clock! I spent too much time on some questions and had to rush through a bunch when they gave us the final ten minute warning. Let us know how you make out.

Hey Climb,
What other municipal forces did you apply for prior to the RCMP? Do you know why you were defered from them? Did you get to the poly stage with any of them?

Guest you couldn't possibly be on the RCMP thread to recruit more poly haters? Climb, I'm at the same stage as you. I've completed my dental, psych, hearing and blood tests. Next week I go in for the final medical (not looking forward to that). I'm in "k" div as well. Good luck.

Hey Climb, What other municipal forces did you apply for prior to the RCMP? Do you know why you were defered from them? Did you get to the poly stage with any of them? I've applied to the two major municipal services in Alberta, Edmonton and Calgary. I applied to both in the early nineties when I was still very wet behind the ears and these Police Services had just gotten off a hiring freeze. It was major competitive back then to get a job - something like 6000 applicants in Edmonton for 24 positions. Calgary lifted there hiring freeze shortly after that (1993ish) and it was equally competitive then as well. I have done a polygraph in the past and passed. I found the experience to be quite draining, and was it ever a long interview (3 hours). Anyway, I digress. Congrats to guest from Alberta, I am so happy for you...plus your story is such an inspiration.....man am I ever pumped and hopeful.....just the lift I needed as yesterday I was totally bumming out. Anyway who's going through this process can probably relate. It's late here and I should get going. Cheers All!

Hello All, ;D ;D ;D ;D Wow alot happening here. I see that Dalex was from NB at one time, cool I'm from Blackville NB, about half hour from Miramichi city but now we are living in Grand Manan Island in NB. We like it here but hope to move on to other parts of canada. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes after the interview to get to depot? All my contacts and employers are right here in NB so that should save some time in the background check ;D Everyone take care. Tim " The just shall live by faith "

Dalex - I dunno how well I did on the RPAT, I didnt time manage the memory part too greatly and the Vocab was a little mind boggling (I couldnt even find a couple of em in the dictionary after the test!). Other than that I think I did quite well...heres hoping. Took you 7 weeks to get your score eh? Hmmmmm....Well, I'll be keeping an eye on my mail box a little bit more.
Guest From AB - Congrats! Hope you do well in Depot (I have no doubt that you'll get through with many Superiors).
Also I just watched an episode on Friday of To Protect and Serve that had some tantilizing tidbits and video clips of depot training (of course my VCR didnt tape it!! Argh)

Hi everyone...following a couple of posts here and thought I would jump in with my 2 cents today... As far as timeline for marks from RPAT, I wrote Sept.11.2002 and had mail by Oct.10.2002...that is here in Nova Scotia. I saw the same episode of the Serve & Protect program a few weeks ago...I love that show, never miss it. I have a copy of a program "forbidden places" - (the discovery channel program) filmed in 1998 and followed a troop through the 6 months of depot. It is absolutely awesome, a real eye opener. Not sure where to direct you to find a copy..other than contacting discovery channell..but if you track down a copy it is worth watching. Have a good day... Mountie2be

I went to Depot for my summer student training 3 weeks ago.. I loved it there!!
The atmosphere is great, the facilitators are great.. just everything on the whole was fantastic. I cannot wait to return for my 22 weeks of regular member training.

Mountie2be, I NEED a copy of that episode!! I have searched all over the web and contacted every person involved, right down to the director of the episode!! NO-ONE has it. If you've got a copy I would love to get a copy of it! I'll pay shipping etc, send me a PM if this is possible...
On another note, I got my rescheduled date for my interview. I'm going in again on the 4th of July, hopefully I actually make it to the first question this time!! ;D It's with a retired member, and it sounds like it will go well. I'm prepared and ready for it so, it shouldn't be a problem. More to come!
