Good luck J2D, I'm sure you won't have any problems. Hopefully you will have the same interviewer as me. he really put me at ease (not that I was nervous ) and gave me plently of time to organize my answers. Some of your practice questions are pretty close so I think you have a good idea of what to expect. Enjoy, I look forward to hearing how things go. Jas thanks for the info on the medical process. I'm still patiently waiting for my refrences to be checked. I talked to the recruiter here in Calgary about a month ago, he stated it would be a minimum of 4-5 months before the background check was completed.

Hello all, I think I asked this question before but here it goes again Did everyone out there get a letter after turning in the packet saying that you will get an interview at a later date? I heard of some people getting a letter but I never did get one yet I turned in my packet back in april and never heard anything yet....I would not care if the interview wasn't for a few more months if I knew for sure that I was at least going to get one. Looking for any input you might have, thanks. Tim

I received a letter shortly after turning in my package stating that I would be contacted for a interview. It wasn't long after that when a received a phone call for a date. It seems like all the divisons do things a little differently, so I wouldn't worry. I'm sure you will hear soon.

Thanks Therecruit1, I tend to worry over things sometimes that I shouldn't be I'm sure to that I will be contacted soon enough for the interview ;D ;D I got to remember that good things come to those who wait. Tim It's funny that after writing this I went to church and the first thing I read was this " I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you....give you hope and a future" It was just what I needed ;D ;D ;D

I am now in the RCMP process in Alberta. I completed my RPAT in March of 2002, went overseas with the Military shortly after and pretty much put the RCMP on the back shelf. To my surprize I received a applicaiton package while I was overseas. I completed the package and turned it in. Last week I got some follow-up correspondence regarding some medical info the RCMP require. A buddy of mine referred me to this website. So far, the info has been quite valuable and uplifting, especially knowing there are so many others going through the same trials and emotions associated with the process. Anyway, just thought I would drop a quick line. If I have any questions or concerns with the process I'll be sure to post them so I can get your opinions. Good luck all! Lastly, has anyone heard (via rumor mill or else where) the amount of personel the RCMP want to put through Depot over the next year?

"1500 a year for the next few years" is the official response. Realisticly...maybe 1000/yr for the next 5 years. Unless they get more officers involved in recruiting task, which is highly unlikely, the will never be able to process enough applications, to reach the 1500 mark.

Dragon Tim, I didn't receive a letter after handing in my application package...they just called me 3 months later to set up an interview. Now this is in BC, and all the other BC applicants "I know" here didn't receive the letter either.....but I only know a few of the few hundred applicants so who knows!

Hey Journey2Depot...congrats on the interview call and best of luck..must be exciting to be at that stage ;D. Hopefully I will not be too far behind ya. I pointed a couple of people at this message board who are in this process as well so they can read up and enjoy everyone's posts as much as I have. There definetly is strength in numbers and we certainly have a diverse number of people participating in this forum and everyones info and stories are appreciated. As far as J2D's comments on numbers through Depot, I heard a similar figure but like you said...without recruiting efforts and recruiting manpower being beefed up the 1500 number may be unrealistic. The local staff sargent commented to me a few weeks ago that the RCMP should really focus their concentration on recruiting efforts because alot of the big municipal forces are...from what I understand Calgary or Edmonton are going cross country even to here in the good ol maritimes to find qualified people (potentially RCMP applicants). and the RCMP needs numbers...from what I understand from retirement alone, here in Nova Scotia are going to be short 1600 to 1800 in the next year...so with 1000 to 1200 per year being pushed through Depot and a small percentage making it back here to NS they need all they can get. On the other hand...this kind of demand could not make our timing for this pursuit any better. Here's hoping... Stay positive...like Storm said...survival mentality throughout the whole process. Well I finally received my medical package today! I can't wait to get it all done, unfortunatley I can't get in to see the doc until the end of this month. Everything else should be completed by the end of this week. Unlike Jas in B.C. I was provided with the names of doctors, psychologist and dentist to see. Does anybody have any insight on the psych? M2B, seems like the RCMP are pretty short handed back there. Thats good news for me...I'm originally from there and wouldn't mind heading back someday. That is if I make through the rest of the process and get posted there.

Thanks M2B!
In reading your post, I forgot about mentioning shortages!! "K" Division is currently 1200 short of expected, and there are alot of retirements happening too. I was talking to one Cst in Airdrie, and since he was posted there (5 months) he has seen 2 members retire and another is seriously considering it. From what I hear that is the same in most regions. Your though, it makes this the perfect time to be applying...too bad it doesn't speed up the process any though... ;D

Wow alot happening here ;D ;D ;D, Congrats to therecruit1 for finally getting the medical package, bet your excited. And wow, I can't believe the RCMP shortages, this makes our timing the best it could ever be. NS is really hurting for new members I see, I wouldn't mind being posted there, it's a really nice province. Well lets all hold tight to our dream of being a proud member of the RCMP Tim " Waiting builds patience"

Good day folks, There seems to be alot of activity on this site lately. It's good to see so many people signing on and stating what stages they are at in the process. If you have read this site, which I'm sure most of you have ... you'll see alot of success stories which are very motivating. therecruit1: about the psch. test, don't worry too much about it, you answer the questions just to declare that you have no medical/psychological problems. Just be honest because most questions are asked numerous times. When reading the questions, it is obvious what psychological condition is associated to it. Having said that, don't answer what you think they want to hear ... be honest. It's the MMPI2 I believe that they use, so you can look up some stuff on the net about it. Just to update you guys on what's new with me. I've been on the job now for almost 2 months ... I've encountered everything from drive-by shootings, stabbings, assaults, pursuits, prostitutes, B&E's, noise complaints, public drinking etc. It's so much fun ... definitely the best job I've ever had!!!! Good luck to all! Ace13

Thank you for the respone on hiring outlook for the RCMP. I feel very hopeful and pumped when I hear how many people the mounties need. After being deferred in the mid nineties from Police agencies in Alberta I didn't think I would ever apply again. I am at a point in my life though where I have nothing to lose...and a lot of thanks goes to my wife for repeated encouraging me to reapply.
Again, thanks for the info. As things develop with my going through the process I'll be sure to drop a thread to let you all know.
Cheers!
