We have all heard the Poly is here for us.. For those about to go to interview, have you heard if you are going to do the poly as well?

oneday,,
Thats what i was told at my security interview that the poly is here as of this fiscal year. In BC anyways.. I went to a info session with a buddy who wants to write, and they sure need the bodies, espically in BC. They predict going full out for the next 3-4 years at depot and are trying to speed things up to compete against large cities like Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. I am having a friend come over to go over some Questions, he just graduated from depot earlier this year. Has lots of photo to show me..
Chat later G

Guest for now until the account is activated.
Anyways, can someone please tell me how log it took them to get their medical forms or background check started? I finished my interviews 5 weeks ago and haven't heard from recruiting nor have any of my references been called yet. I'm from BC....so hopefully some of you westcoasters could give me an idea of the speed of "E" division.

Hi everybody, I had my interview almost a month ago now and when I called the recruiting office they said expect to wait 4-5 months for the background search as they are running so far behind.
About the Poly....I was told at my interview (I had suitability and security same day) that I "may" have to do the poly, but the interviewer wasn't sure on that. He said he didn't know when they were going to start it.(I'm in AB).

Congratulations JosephOTTAWA, I know exactly how you feel right about now! All I can say is relax and enjoy your time at depot. When you get there, don't sweat the small stuff and keep focused on your goals. Work hard and you will be successful. Don't forget to bring collared shirts to wear to the "mess"-dining hall. Good luck Waiting again: Don't let this minor setback interfere with your dreams to become a police officer. Take the advice that the interviewer probably gave you and try again when you can. Or look into other departments as well. Never give up. Good luck Ace13

Hello all, Yesterday we had our Instructor here on the Island for a Martail arts seminar and he brought a couple of students with him to aid in the activities. As things got going I found out that one of his students, a 21 year old female, was waitingfor her call to depot She wrote last june and got through everything and recruiting said that she should get the call for depot in june or july. We had a chance to get together with her after the seminar to chit chat about RCMP stuff ..She said that her interview was easy, they made her feel really at ease. She said that her martial art training really was a big part of passing the interview with setting goals, intergity, honesty, all part of the martial art way. I really needed a little SIGN today showing me that I'm on the right path. Tim ;D

I'm waiting for an interview. I checked about a week ago, the Ontario recruiting officer said that there are around 100 people waiting for interviews. That means i'm looking at a 50 business day wait for a slot Unless they have 2 interviewers...then it's only 5 or 6 weeks. Who knows, they could have 3 interviewers...

Just found this forum, some good discussion.
It has been 16 months since I wrote and scored well above 4 on my RPAT, 12 months since my interview, 8 months since my background was complete. Still no call with a depot date. Anyone else waiting a similar amount of time?
Advice for others, keep your goal in mind but do not start to make big plans before you get that call. I sold my house soon after my interview and have regretted it ever since.
Those waiting for interviews, do not expect too much to happen over the summer as interviewers take summer holidays just like everyone else. I'm not trying to depress anyone, but this is a very long process especially in Alberta. Good luck to all.

Guest from AB, welcome to the site. It's been 8 months since your background was completed and you are still waiting? Has your file manager given you any reason for the delay? Also, have they sent you the medical/dental package to complete? I'm in AB too, so just wondering what they have been telling you about when you can expect to hear from them......thanks.

Maverick,
My file manager has not really been able to provide me with any reason for the delay. I was finished my medical/dental in August 2002. I know of two guys that waited 20 months from the time they wrote until they left for depot. I have heard of up to two years. From what I have heard, my case is not unusual.
I have been told that I can expect to go to depot sometime late this summer or possibly as late as January 2004.
