It's very nice to read about other RCMP applicants' experiences. I myself first thought of applying back in my university days, but heard from a certain officer that they weren't really interested in recruiting minority females (me). I guess I was naive enough back then to believe him. Anyway after few years in the work force, I finally wrote the RPAT back in April. I don't expect to hear anything until summer, but at least it's a step towards the right direction. Best wishes to all applicants.

I have a question about the Bloc Recruiting process for the RCMP. First, are the 2 blocs April and October?? 2nd, If I write at the beginning of June and pass I would be in the October bloc. So it would be possible to be interviewed in Nov, Dec? I've known other applicants who wrote in Sept and missed the October bloc and got an interview in April. So that would lead me to believe if I write, pass RPAT, send application in before the Oct bloc I would get interviewed in 2003.. then wait, wait, wait for everything else. Just curious.

Yes, the two blocs are people that write the RPAT from April 1 - September 31, and those that write from October 1 - March 31.
>2nd, If I write at the beginning of June and pass I would be in the October bloc. So it would be possible to be interviewed in Nov, Dec?
Passing is not good enough, depending on how many people in your category in your division pass. If you score high enough to get an application, and complete it, I would think that an interview in November, December, or January would be reasonable.
>.. then wait, wait, wait for everything else.
That should be the motto of RCMP applicants!

I'm just trying to avoid writting in June 2003 and having to wait until July 2004 for an interview.
If I was to score a fairly high mark (4.3+) I should get an interview within 6 months of October.
But on the other hand it is the RCMP. Even my Summer Student Program application had a bunch of problems.
I have an Enhanced Reliability Clearance with the Mounties right now so I'm not too worried about the background. Just getting that darn interview in a decent time.
Oh well.. we'll see what cards I am dealt.
Thanks for the reply Dave!

Well, I talked to the recruiter here in Calgary today. Apparently the recruiting section in Alberta is under staffed and is extremely behind on the processing of applications. He said that he sent my package off to Edmonton on April 23 and is waiting for its return to Calgary so they can continue with the field investigation. The really crappy part about the conversation was that it will probably be another 4-5 months before I hear anything. Its only only been three weeks since I completed the interview so I guess I was kind of expecting this. I suppose I was hanging on to a tiny thread of hope that things would continue moving along quickly. Oh well, I'll take his advice and continue to stay patient. I hope this doesn't discourage the guys from Alberta, I'm sure the other divisions are going through the same thing... Does anybody have any info on this?

I have been holding out on calling them but I had to know!! I called K Divison today to ask about the processing of my application. I submitted it about a month and a half ago and then some follow up stuff a few weekes ago..
According to the nice lady on the other end of the line, I should wait 6-8 weeks to hear from them...
That means that my interview is going to be late summer if i'm lucky..
all in good time, I can wait!

The problem I have with the RCMP's process being so long and drawn out is after my S/Cst. Summer Student job which will end in Sept I will be in a temp job awaiting my application to process.
I think I will apply at a city force as well. Oh well..

Hello all, I'm from NB and I just turned in my application packet a few weeks ago and my recruiter told me that they are doing interviews already ;D She said that I should get a call this month or next month for the interview I hope that the rest of the recruiting process goes this fast. To everyone else out there keep your head up and hang on to your dream of being a mountie.... good things come to those who wait. Tim

RJB2003, Whatever you do, don't put your life on hold, your not that far along in the process to start assuming when your leaving, but trust me your getting really close! I applied last april 2002, wrote my test in june, got my app package in november, did my interview in January 2003, started medical in march and start my background in april, i'm done everything only now! I'm just waiting for the phone call to let me know when i'm going! I'm not trying to discourage you, i'm just saying that I've been assuming when things would happen for me and well, I thought I would be leaving next week and now i'm probably not going to be leaving until late june! Anyways, good luck to you and all the other applicants, you'll be there soon, just practice for your interview in the mean time! Joseph www.geocities.com/rcmpcadet2003

RJB2003, sorry forgot to write something else.
> TEXTIf I was to score a fairly high mark (4.3+) I should get an interview within 6 months of October.
The bloc recruiting process works like this, if you write after april, then you won't get your package until october/november, it doesn't matter how good you score, they won't even look at your file until it's october. At the same time though, once you get your package it shouldn't take too long before you get your interview, maybe 2-3 months, not even.

Your confusing me, if you write the RPAT in June, you'll get your results within 2-3 wks, then THEY send you the application package at one of the selections, so in October they would send you your package, then once you hand that back in they'll give you a date for your interview.
You don't write the RPAT, pass, then send in your application. The selection goes off your RPAT scores.

I was skipping me getting the results from the RPAT because that's very obvious. Pass or fail applicants get their results. Didn't think it would confuse anyone.
I was curious when the applications were sent out. Which was answered in an earlier post.
