Storm,
if you are looking for a place to meet fellow Maritimers "displaced" in BC - check out the Atlantic Trap & Gill at 612 Davie in Vancouver.
"Real" Donairs, fried brothers pepperoni (flown in), and all the other comforts of home. Maritime brews on tap. Usually a good east-coast crowd.

I'm fairly new to this board and have read lots of great advice on the RCMP interview. I sent my application in two weeks ago and now I have my interview scheduled for Apirl 16. Things are all of a sudden moving very quick!!! I was just looking for any last minute advice from people who have done the interview recently or know some who has done it recently. I have both the RMSI and the security interview scheduled for the same day(the security interview only if I pass the RMSI). Is this the norm or are they usually done on seperate days?

therecruit1, Awesome that you got the interview so quick after mailing in the packet. ;D ;D I have heard of people waiting 8 months before they got there interview. I just got my packet 2 days ago and I only have till the 22nd of April to get it all done including the PARE. I sure hope that my interview follows that quick. I'm just wondering what province are you from?? I'm from N.B. Tim

timgill, I read on this board that they might be putting 44 or so troops through this year, thats quite a few people. I was wondering if they are going to speed up the process a little bit to fill those classes. They sure don't give you a lot of time to get your package in, but the quicker you get in the quicker you will from them. I live in Alberta now but I'm originally from Nova Scotia. It seems like there are a few Maritimers on this board. COOL!

theRecruit1 and timgill: Glad to hear things are moving along...I'm still waiting for my interview (in Alberta) But I haven't run the PARE yet, so I think thats what they are waiting for. I'm doing it on Wed, so if all goes well I could get an Interview within a couple of weeks. ;D theRecruit1 - Alberta is supposed to be HURTING for applicants, so we tend to be moving alot faster than other Divisions. Course this is all rumor and no one knows for sure until you get the call...Ah well patience builds character right?? I hope?? www.enterthemind.com/~jmalo/rcmp/

j2d, Don't worry about the pare, as long as you are in half decent shape you shouldn't have any problem with it. I've heard so many rumors in regards to the RCMP, I try not to pay much attention to them but most of them are positive so I guess thats a good thing? By the way, how did your ride along go?

PARE done...3:57 (I need to get the time lower)
All that I need for my application package is a letter from my eye surgeon.
I think i'll send the package without it tomorrow, then fax the letter when it arrives. Who knows how long doctors take to write letters...

Good time on the PARE Dave. Have you run it before? Less than a day until I run mine...

Nope, this was my first attempt, although I have practiced it in my police foundations course. It wasnt exactly the PARE, but it was similar.
Good luck on it! Set a comfortable pace, and don't be afraid to take 5 seconds after the obstacle course to catch your breath

Thanks Dave,
I'm really thankful for all the tips I've found about the PARE, from eating a halls before hand (avoid the raw throat afterwards) to proper techniques for the push pull. I'll be posting my time here sometime tomorrow.
