Hey everyone! :-)
Congrat's to those who have gone to Depot and beyond! I have read this entire thread (all 47 pages of it!). I think it's so neat to follow everyone from the beginning to the end of their process. I was all excited when you posted that you got the call to go to Depot!
My husband, (he's "Pete" here but hasn't posted), just got the letter to go on to the PARE after waiting from June 2001. We are so ready to go forth with this application. I say "we" because even though it's all about him, it's such a life changing time for both of us. We are prepared though. We are going into this with open arms and I hope he gets to realize his dream of being a RCMP officer. He would apply to muni units, however, RCMP is where his heart has always been. He loves the tradition and the history; everything that encompasses being a RCMP officer.
He wrote back in June 2001, and missed the first selection (there were only 10 at that time). However, this time they are taking 45 applicants through and I don't know how many of those are actual Depot slots. (not totally sure how the process works) We never thought that he would get the letter for the PARE. We almost had given up hope - Pete more than I. In the back of my head, I always had the thought that he would get his chance.
So, he goes to the PARE on May 2nd!! I am sure he will pass with flying colours, and will proceed with his process.
Wish him luck! CROSSED fingers for him (hard to type that way). I will post his updates (and hopefully he will too).
Jenn.

Good day everyone. Welcome MrsPete, good luck to your husband. Get him online here if you can. The typing is good practice.
STORM - good to hear from you dude. Wow-exciting first week! Car vs Pedestrian, Armed Robbery, etc. I don't recall the last Armed Robbery here at the Buffalo Strip Mall! OJT (on the job training)- that's what it's all about I guess, after you get the basis of police work here in at Depot. I'll drop you a line on ROSS someday. Going into Week 10 now myself, time's flying.
And ACE13's photo looks great in her Red Serge on the board in the Mess Hall. Congrats ACE as you near the end.

Hey Marcus and all my buds at Depot. it was a fun, interesting and adrenaline week. You don't realise how ingrained a lot of that training is until something happens and you just start moving. Your hands know which "tools" to pick, you see, recognize and react to those cues before you even realize that you are. WHen your firearms, PDT, PDU and APS instructors drone on and on over things you have heard already, keep listening. You will be amazed how much of that info has become instinct.
Pete and MrsPete, good to see you on here. Lots and lots and lots of info here. There are also several websites out there now, Jamaf, a regular on the posts here, has one he updates routinely. Questions here can usually get answered pretty concisely, either by people who have gone thru or the guys fighting their way through there now.
I know how it feels to write and not make the first cut, been there. But, if you have that never give up attitude you will make it. Like Pete, it was my dream too. Now I get to live my dream. I look at my badge and it reminds e constantly I am REALLY living my dream. I no longer WORK for a living, I have a career that I truly love. Good luck Pete, keep us posted. Everyone here knows how it feels to be in the process, in Depot and striving. A lot of people off of this board are now at Depot or graduated. I think this board is a good luck charm! LOL
hang tuff, keep pushing, obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off of your goal!

Hi guys... Long time no post. Its been one busy roller coaster ride and I can't believe that I am rolling into week 14. I have had a tone of tests in the last few weeks. PDT- Passed Mid term- Passed 2nd highest mark in the troop. Fire arms- Passed. BOLF drive- Passed (that was more fun than a test) I have Patrol drive 4 next week. (Those of you who have been through it know what that is) and that’s about it. I am heading home for Easter. I can't wait. Oh and just to make sure I smell great before I leave the drill staff is having our CS gas chamber experience the last class before we leave. How to secure a seat by yourself on an air plane. Actually the very last class is a spare so we should have time to scrub ourselves clean. I watched both Storms and Ace13's Passout. It was neat to see. It just seems like yesterday when I came onto this site and both Storm and Ace were hoping waiting and wondering. Good luck in Surrey Ace13. It sounds like you are having a blast Strom. I can't wait to get out there. For those of you in the process its a long wait but worth it . Stick to it and your time will come.

Its funny reading these posts. I was just like everyone else who waited and waited. Now that I am a constable, I realize that Depot was only good for the very basic skills and if you were posted to a small town. But in a large metropolitan city only the firearm and driving skills are put to use. Other than that it is nothing like the Depot way. Play the game to get the tin.

here's What gets me. If you can get in to become an auxillary then your chances of getting into the RCMP are greater and faster. The thing is they have people on the auxillary for years and have no plans on going in for RCMP. So chances of anyone actually getting in are nill. My question is why wouldn't they make it that you have to be considering to be going into RCMP to become an auxiallary. I really think that is unfair......

Hey Everyone,
Well I had my security interview today. Wow, three hours of questions...then the wait in the lobby to wait to see if I passed.
Well, they said they will advance me onto the next stage.....wow, what a relief... I should have Regular Member Selection Interview the first of June. Which is good, gives me two months to prepare and have my finances in order. Mortgage is due at the end of May, so I will have that all squared away.. Let me tell you, my heart rate is still up, so I am going to go to the gym for a workout.
Chat later, G

Congrats Glenn, you are one more step along the way
Is 3 hours for a security interview considered normal?
P.S. Storm, if you read this, what detachment did you get assigned to?

Thanks everyone, it was a stressful day to get over with. Worked last night, got in bed at 05:30, set alarm for 08:15 quick shower, shave, and a bite to eat. 10:00 interview, it was around 13:00 when I got out of there. whew. Its starting to sink in, I am overtired and hungry, but glad to be on to the next stage. Even though I been thinking about the next interview, I will buckle down big time starting tomorrow and go over the Guide. Don't want to even look at it right now..feels good to be advancing another step. Anyways, thanks again everyone. G

Hey guys,
I am on my days off and trying to get a few things done. Finally got our apt straightened up, but still in the hotel till may 1. This hotel thing...the novety has worn off. Ace gets here soon so the time will go a little easier. DaveTO I am in Richmond Detachment. great lil place, the detachment is busy enough that you are not board, but slow enough to learn how to do things right. My trainer is an awsome guy with good experience and tactical background. He just keeps adding to what I learned in training and refining it even more.
GOOD JOB JAMAF! Nice to see you got through it all and congrats on the high score. Where are you going anyway, you get your div yet?
Marcus and Marcusinmb how are things? everything going good?
Nice to get on here to see everyone is doing well and getting through. Keep up the good work!
