Good advice dave, its really important to set a comfortable pace. When I did mine I saw at least 10 people start out really fast and by the last lap they were practically walking and were unable to do the push/pull. These were peolpe who at least looked to be in half decent shape.

I've been told that pacing yourself if one of the biggest things, and since I've found out that it can actually be done at walking speed, and still meet the time reuirements I should be fine...I can do 400m uphill in under 3min, and not be exhausted so I should have plenty of time, and energy to complete the push pull...

j2d, I don't know about passing the PARE at walking speed. You may be able to walk it and pass if your legs are 10 feet long. I'd say a medium paced jog is sufficient to pass and get a half decent time.

Well the interview is over and I passed it w/o any problems. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be but it was still very challenging! I was in there from 0930-1330 with a 20 min. break in between the RMSI and the security interview. I felt really good about the interview when it was over. I'm very happy that I don't have to worry about this part of the process anymore. Now its hurry up and wait again while they do the background check, I expect the process will slow down considerably again . Hopefully i'll be posting the start of my first shift someday like ace13. For all you polygraph haters it looks like the RCMP will be implementing it in the near future.

Way to go on the interview Recruit!! I knew you'd make it... Ran my PARE today, managed a 3:42 + 5sec penalty. Not bad for an out of shape bastard like myself... Now I get to play the waiting game for the interview Hopefully it won't be too long....

j2d, One more step down and only a couple more to go, good job!!! :)I don't think you will have to wait to long for the interview. It sure is a great relief when you complete a part of the process.

That's for sure, only problem with this whole process is that, just when you get relief from completing one step, there's another to climb....

Hello all, I made it through the PARE yesterday ;D ;D What a relief, I paced myself as best as I could and did it in 3min35sec with a 5 sec penality . The only trouble I had was my shoes, I went and wore my Tae Kwon Do shoes because their super light weight BUT they had no grip at all I did a pratice on the push/pull and could not move it without my feet sliding across the floor. It was a good thing that one of the other applicants was kind enough to lend me his sneakers after he finished I went out and bought a good pair of sneakers after that.. Thank you all for the good advice about pacing yourself and eating hauls, it really helped Tim Know as timgill

Hello all, As you all know already, I passed the PARE the other day Glad I got that over with, one step closer in the process. Does anyone have any advice on how to prepare for the interview?? I hope that it's not to long of a wait, but I would like to be doing something while I'm waiting Tim

Hey Tim, Best suggestion is to read over the RMSIG of the RCMP website, and do like I did, and try to think of 2-3 questions and answers to each section. From what I've heard, the interview follows that guide VERY closely. It should cover pretty much everything you need to know. Keep in mind appreance (D'uh) attitude/personality, and effective communication. You can have the perfect answer to every question, but it means SFA if you can't get it across to them. J2D

Tim and everyone else waiting for the interview, I'll consider myself an expert on the interviews....I did the RMSIG twice. In my first attempt 2.5 years ago I had a critical failure on one of the questions, so I got the 2 year deferral. I can't get into the question....because as we all know, the questions in the interview room don't leave the room. So in March of this year I re-did the RMSIG and passed...having fixed my earlier problem. As for the RMSIG, look at the guide as mentioned by J2D and find real life examples from the last few years of your life (they don't like you going too much beyond 5 years) and write them dowm on paper using the STAR format found in the RMSIG guide. This will give you a good refresher of your life....which can sometimes be hard to recall under the interview stress. As for the security interview, they are mostly yes/no questions, some explanations of things, and an over view of your file for address changes and helping the interviewer understand what you did during the last ten or so years of your life. You either did what they asked or didn't do it....so I won't give any hints here because I don't think it is helping anyone if someone prepares answers for this interview. AND if you happen to get a two year deferral, don't worry, it is not the end of the world (close, but not quite) the interview the second time around is a lot less stressful...you know most of the questions already. However, I won't get pessimistic....and good luck. Cab
