Thanks Ace I am soooo looking forward to that. ;D I got to play policeman today a bit. I caught a guy shoplifting in my store. Most people that I have caught have been teenagers. The difference with this guy was that he was 75. Amazing what people will risk for a $6 item. It just goes to show there is no age limit for a criminal.

I ran into this interesting fact.. Thought that I would pass it on..
Interview.....
A study done at UCLA a few years ago revealed that the impact of a performance was based on 7 percent of the words used, 38 percent on voice quality, and 55 percent on nonverbal communication.
Think about that!

Hey Ace or Storm The RCMP website says that a cadet spends around $4,000 in the 22 weeks. Does the RCMP expect you to buy certain items ie: coat, boots, shoes? I'm just trying to figure out what expenses I might have as soon as I get to Depot. Thanx

I am not sure Jamaf about that quote. I know you need to buy stuff like hangers, gun cleaning supplies, toilitries, shoe polish and school supplies. I am not sure if that $4000 incleudes your own bills or not. I tool out a student line of credit. Basically I added up 22 weeks of after tax salary and borrowed that much in the form of a student line of credit. Check with people refdently graduated and see what they did, maybe Ace can give you a better or more concise answer. I just have atendency to buy what I need and want, I figure I am here, I might as well enjoy it as much as I can. But, to give you an idea, unless you go out to party or eat you will probably spend very little on yourself. Coffee money during the day is all I take, I can go Mon to Fri on $10(no kidding), weekend might spend a little extra if Ace and I go out.
Hope things move along for you soon.
Storm

Thanks Storm I got a call from the recruinting office today saying that the field investigator that had an eye infection last week has started my file again. So it doesn't look like I will be in troop 22 another week or 3 of waiting.

I guess we're used to it by now Jamaf...doesn't make it any easier though. I haven't heard squat from Recruiting in last 3 wks when they asked for an updated Driver's Abstract and one more supervisor to talk to. I'm phoning them on Monday for an update.
ACE - good job on passing your Patrol Drive 1. Here's a question....are you guys learning on/driving in both Crown Vics and Impalas? I've been in passenger seat of both during Ride-Alongs and found the Chev Impala a little cramped and I'm only 6ft tall. There are obviously taller people than I being asked to drive them. Any preferences?
Later all.

I just got back from a 2 day course put on by the colwood police pistol combat club. It was very cool and very informative. They issued us with S&W revolvers in .38 special. We were taught safety handling and then all the ppc shooting positions. I am glad I signed up for the coarse. Not that its going to help me any but it was a lot of fun. I really recommend anyone who has a ppc club around to see if they put on a course. ;D Some of the club members let us try there service and personal pistols as well . So I got the feel for a 9mm and a colt .45 Ok now I am REALLY ready to go. ;D

Hey Guys Well this morining we did the coopers test, which took from 8am until noon. First was the 2.5k run then a 50m dash, and then to the gym. There we did pull ups, broad jump, sit ups and push ups in a minute. And a shuttle run. After lunch we practised our self defence and fighting skills. Added some more kicks and strikes. Kicking down doors and then trained on the baton strikes. After that we learned some basic hand cuffing. To end the day we go all out for one minute fighting with the baton and then handcuff our partner. We also had a handcuffing race..see who could handcuff the fastest. Slowest got to do 50 push ups...ha ha.. Anyways if I make it into depot, this reserve training should help out big time. Should be almost a review. Here's hoping. Chat later Glenn PS I changed my call name to cdncop2be....more wishfull thinking on my part...lol

Hey Glenn how many push ups, sit ups do you have to do for the coopers test? How long do you have to do it? I have heard that they make you do that in Depot but I never knew what it entailed.

Jamaf re:Coopers test Here are the stats for the coopers test. Min marks then you work towards full marks..example the run 15,16,17,18,,,30pts the quicker, the higher mark. 1.5 mile run,= 6 laps on 400m track 12min=15pts 9.3min=30pts full marks 50M dash 8.0sec=1pt 6.0sec=10pts Pull ups, palms facing away from you one point for each pull up, max ten pull ups Standing broad jump 60cm=1pt 240cm=10pts Bent leg sit up. One minute time scale pts 6=1pt 55=10pts Push ups, One minute time again scale points 5=1pt 50=10pts Obstacle course. They didn't have one set up so we did a shuffle run. 21sec=10pts 31sec=1pt You aim for 100% Yesterdays test was to see where yourselve need to improve. The coopers test is part of the ERT test. They need something like 90%+ to make it. This was to see how fit or not fit we are. In Feb we do it again. They want to see improvement on everything. So I have to do better on the 1.5 mile run. I was 12.32=0 pts The rest I was pretty good at. But there is room for improvement. The best was a guy with 93% the guy is a machine. His 1.5 mile run was 8.55 smoking...30pts for that. I will phone you this week Jamaf, maybe on Monday. I will see how the day goes. I am going to have a fitness trainer set me up with some more exercieses at the gym. Bigger, stronger, faster.....oh yeah Glenn
