OK here is a question. IF ACE13 is in troop 21 and the program is 22 weeks long would there be a troop 22? How high does it go? When do they revert back to troop 1? Hey since I'm not in Depot yet I've got lots of time to think of questions. ;D

WOW! I have four weeks done here. I have my first precision driving test next week. I am doing things now that are more related to police work and it is so enjoyable. Learning how do use equipment and file work. This place is busy busy busy, never a dull moment!

It has taken me two years to get here Drakor. It is everything you cold imagine and then some. There is no stop. I ahve my first driving test coming up in precision driving, a lot weaving in and out of cones frontwards and backwards! Takes praticse but its doable.
TOday is pretty laid back, Ace13 and I are hanging out I have most of my assignments up to date and laundry done. So it is time to unwind a little after all week. Next week proves to be a little busy but all I can say is bring it on!
Hang there everybody, their are still bodies arriving here!

I am still around just busy. I had my first driving test today. It is a skill based practical. I passed everything first time around. Needless to say I was happy about it. Other thing is that I went to watch a pass out, which is basically what a grauating troop does for drilll during their grad ceremony, but they do it for their fellow cadets as a dress rehearsal. It is most inspirational and makes you realise why you are really here. I encourage anyone coming here to go to the first one they can, or go to one anytime you feel down here in Depot. I look forward to meeting some of you when you make it here.
Get pushing guys, your turn is coming soon.
(little statistic to all of those waiting, 11000 people applied to the RCMP this year. SO if you are on the waiting list to get here, feel proud, because only about ten percent get selected)

Thanks Glenn sounds good see you next week. On another note. Storm. Just how many pushups do they make you do? Have you gone on many long runs in the cold? I am totally not looking forward to running in -15. (or colder) How are you finding the physical aspect of Depot? (harder than or about what you expected.) I'm trying to will my phone to ring. ;D RING RING RING

Jamaf,
In your first drill class expect a good few push ups! Expect some every class, you screw up in drill, police defensive or firearms....push ups.
I find the physical aspect challenging but managable. I have lost over an inch on my waist but gained two punds. Running in the cold is not to bad I manage about 8-10 miles per week, plus resistance training. I run with a couple of guys in my troop so it is a bit easier to stay motivated. My advice to you is try to keep in reasonable condiion before you get here, it makes it easier than trying to get in shape while you are here.
The combination of stress and work is what keeps you going, hang in there Jamaf, you could be here anytime.

HI folks, It was a busy week so I didn't get to drop you guys a line. I got my firearm on Thursday and was shooting for the first time in my life on Friday. I only scored 45/60, but I was happy that I hit the target!! lol But it's only going to get better. I got my first patrol drive next week, Regina is messed up! I'm not used to all those one way streets and uncontrolled intersections. We don't have them in NF and that's what Regina is! But it's pretty good, layed out in a grid so you can't get lost! We had a big presentation on Friday that went well. My troop is awesome. Our drill instructor is hilarious, so it's hard not to laugh at the comments that she makes. She made us do alot of pushups in the first couple classes. Take Care Hang in there guys. Ace13

Sounds like your haveing a great time Ace. What are you supose to be doing on your patrol drive? Do they give you a route to take or something to do. Or do they just give you the car and say "drive around" ;D Nice shooting for your first time. What score does the RCMP want to see at the end of your 22 weeks?

Say hi to Rob and Chad that are in your troop for me. Hope they are doing well. Tell Chad I got his old job...well not his exact job since people there moved up. But I did get on with the secruity. Ask Rob if he is cold yet.lol Tell him to e mail me. The reserves are going well, training the other day with high risk traffic stops. Next week is hand cuffing, o/c spray baton and ground fighting. My pare is next week, can't wait to get that over with and send in my package.. Oh yeah, we do alot of push up in Drill lol Take care Glenn

Hi all, wish I'd stumbled on this sooner! Like you, I am dreaming the dream. My particulars: -applied in August-02 -wrote RPAT 15-Sep-02 -got notice (& package) a week later I made the IRL! -wrote the psych test 09-Oct-02 -ran the PARE 17-Oct-02 -had my suitability/security interviews 24-Oct-02 (passed ) And now here I am. I have my medical/dental on 26-Nov-02 and will be doing my CPR/First Aid and typing this month as well. I was reluctant to post my timeline up here because everyone else has suffered through the long waits. Your dedication shows through. I think I really lucked out in terms of timing and where I live (Saskatchewan) for the process. Anyway, looking forward to hearing from everyone and maybe even seeing you at Depot! Dave

For the patrol drive, they give you a list of hot cars. You can do 10-28's and 10-29's on them and get the info. Plus they like you to be familiar with the downtown core, direction wise. You need to know how to make u-turns, and pick out traffic violations. Plus multi-task. You also need to use the push/pull steering all the time (except in reverse). The skills track is neat too. Glenn, I told Rob and Chad that I met you here. They are doing good. And yes... they are both really cold. Good luck Dave, your time will come for sure. Take Care guys Ace13
