That's great Jamaf, I finished up my medical last week. It just takes a little while to get the results back from the tests (EKG, bloodwork etc.) here. And I hear that it takes about a week or two to get the psychological results back. I wrote mine, exactly two weeks ago on Monday, so hopefully, it came back ok. I think they only call if there is a problem. I'm still waiting for my background check to complete. Just one more out-of-province reference and then my NF checks will begin hopefully!!! If I were you Jamaf, I'd start arranging your financing and loose ends now, because they are pushing people through at top speed these days. Like Storm, you could get a call on a wednesday to leave on Saturday. Take Care Ace13

Thanks Ace I hopefully have everything in order. I have enough saved up to keep my house and food on the table for the next 6 months. The only advantage to this long process is that you have time to save. My wife will still have to work a bit but we should be fine.
On another note does anyone know when and how long Depot lets out for Christmas? It would be nice to know a bit in advance so I could at least price a ticket home.

Depot shuts down from Dec 20 - Jan 6th, not inclusive. Storm booked his ticket home from Dec 21 - Jan 4th. I think they usually recommend those dates, that gives you time to get things straightened away again when you get back to start training again on the 6th. Airline tickets to NF are brutal. The cheapest I could find, when researching, was $1150!! Crazy!

Tell me about it!! It's very expensive flying to and from the island! But oh well, if that's the price you have to pay, so be it! And as well, I just got a call from RCMP Health Services, my medical has cleared! So I'm just waiting for my background check to clear now! Needless to say, I'm getting excited now!! Ace13

hey all,
great site, glad i stumbled onto it. just a few question for those who have done their interview, or are planning to do their interview soon. i heard that there are now two portions to the interview process. the first is the security interview, and then the suitability interview. is this correct? if so, is one harder than the other? if you make it past the security interview, is that a good sign? and when does the suitability interview take place? any comments are appreciated. thanks

Hey curious There were always 2 parts to the interview. They just use to do them in the same day. So it would make your interview day like 6 hours long. Now they split them up. Apparently this way if you don't pass the security interview portion the don't have to waste a whole day on you. I can't tell you if one interview is easier that the other because it is all about you and totally based on you. You and your past will indicate how hard or easy the interviews will be. I really enjoyed mine once I realized that no one was out to get me. Although It was sure a sigh of relief when he said that I had passed. Good luck and read throught this thread you should find a lot of good tips to help you prepare for it.

hey jamaf,
thanks for the reply. since i'm fairly young, i guess i'm not sure if my experiences are what they are looking for. or if they are just looking for any sort of experience based on the competencies. would you know? i guess its a lot more comforting knowing that they're not out to get you. did you feel they were trying to help you out with the questions? thanks again, and it seems like you're well on your way.

Hi curious, I guess, you would know if you can come up with situations to meet each competency. You just need the life experience. You don't have to have a full time job to get those experiences. For example, volunteer work, school work, etc. can sometimes give you the life experience. The best bet for you would be to read the guide that you get on their website and see if you can come up with an example for each of the questions in each comptency. I didn't feel as if my interviewer helped me with any questions. If anything, she was writing every word I said on paper. But if she needed clarification on any point, she'd say, can you elaborate on that. What stage are you at now? Take Care and Good Luck Ace13 p.s. I do my typing test on tuesday of next week

hey ace,
thanks for the reply. i'm waiting for the interview. if i can give an example for each competency, is that good enough, or are they looking for some out of the ordinary example? i mean i guess what i worried about is that whether or not my "life experience" is good enough or not? or what they are looking for. how would i know? i guess i can't. you mentioned that i should look on the website for hints on the interview, but isn't is the same as the interview guide we got in the package? just wondering if i should be looking for anything else? thanks again.

Good luck Jamaf, you will be off to depot in no time!
Curious, The RCMP doesn't expect you to have experienced anything "out of the ordinary", they just want to know if you've had basic life experience, for ex: dealing with angry people or facing stressful situations. As well, like it says in the guide, this example doesn't always have to show what you did was right. If you made a mistake, but can prove that you learned from it, they like that. The interview guide on the web is the same as the interview guide in the package. If I were you, I'd pick up an interview book, one with situational based questions and read through that. One big thing to do during your interview is to be honest! Don't make up a situation, because they will find out. I can't tell you what questions they ask, because you actually sign a waiver saying that you won't tell others about it. If you do, you can be terminated.
Anyway, good luck.
Ace13:)
