Passed interview in September and still waiting, so I'm not sure of the answer to the wait in between, depends on lot's of different things I guess.

First of all, just getting a pass on the interview doesn't mean an offer to go to Depot. IF they choose to proceed with your application after the interview, you still have the background check, medical, dental, psychological examinations. You're most likely still looking at a few months after the interview.

I've actually been fortunate to have finished everything for some time, but budgets etc dictate a lot and things sort of ground to a halt until April 1 for the new fiscal year. Getting good at waiting though. Good luck to everyone.

Hang in there Hey, at least you are still on the list. Like I said before, I know a few guys that had passed everything as well, just waiting for their background check to be started and they were dropped. The recruiter told them that they weren't sending as many people as previously thought, so they were cutting alot of people. And that once you make it to the Post Interview Rank List, you only stay there during two selection periods (october, April) and if you are not picked up then, see ya later So they unfortunately have to start from the beginning again, applying, writing RPAT etc. But hang in there, patience is the key! I'm on week number 5 now waiting for my RPAT results! Good luck everyone Ace13

Brief chronology of my RCMP application:
December 2000 - write the RPAT January 2001 - RPAT results April 2001 - Receive application package May 2001 - Interview August 2001 - Medical/Dental/Psych Sept 2001 - start hearing from people contacted by Background investigator. December 2001 - last report of contact with BI April 2002 - playing the waiting game...
Name of the game with the RCMP is patience. It's a long haul but hopefully I'll be able to share some good news soon.
Are there any members out there that might be able to provide some insight on the end of the process?
How does the RCMP notify persons selected as Cadets? (ie. should I be obsessively checking my mailbox or my telephone messages?)
What sort of timeframe is there between notification and arrival in Regina? (ie. Will I be able to give my very understading employer a reasonable amount of notice?)
Does anyone know if there are currently Cadets in Regina or how many troops are expected to go through over the summer?
Good Luck to everybody!

I'll give you the timeline of one of my friends (who unfortunately got cut though ) August 2000 - wrote RPAT October 2000 - received application package December 2000 - Ran PARE January 2001 - Interview January 2001 - Psychological Passed everything, told from recruiter that they were waiting to start the background check February 2002 - CUT from Post Interview Rank List March 2002 - Start from Square 1, wrote RPAT So everything seemed to be going great . . . until just before the background check, things came to a halt for him. Quite the dissappointing experience for him, but he's going to keep trying!

Here's my list...from BC
January 2001 RPAT May 2001 Application Package Sept 2001 Interview Nov 2001 Backgrounds, Medical, Dental. Psych Jan 2002 Advised all background done except one Mar 2002 Advised all done and on Sgt desk for sign off
Throughout all this process I have always been told that it looked like it would be late spring or early summer for a call to depot. More time will tell I guess.

I am from BC as well. After 10 months from sending in my application I was notified that my background check was completed and was moving to the interview stage which is in about 11 days. Now why would some applicants be interviewed before having a background check done while for others it is the opposite.

Not that I've spoken with many other applicants but that is the first I heard of them doing background before the interview. It is an advantage to you though as the background check can take a long time, particularily if you've lived in more than one province. Good luck on the interview.

Hi, to answer SLIDER question I have to say that the RCMP always do a background check before they do an interview with a candidate. They are not doing the big and long one but they still check if the candidate has a criminal record, huge debts or something else that is important to them. After you are successfull at the interview stage then they will start their real BI. As i said before, be patient it is well worth it.

Sorry Slider...I misunderstood what you meant by background check but what Simon says makes perfect sense. Looks like things are starting to move along for you though. If it's anything like mine they'll have you do a ton of stuff that all needs to be done "yesterday" then you hurry up and wait again.
