that is excellent news Jamaf. You must be feeling excited as well!! I can't believe that they are putting pepole through depot right up til December. That's great news. I thought that the last troops were being sent the end of October.
just came back from my dental, it was supposed to be tomorrow but the dentist had to change my appointment til today. He said he would report to the RCMP that everything is fine with me. I go tomorrow for my bloodwork, etc. and friday to meet with the doc for my complete medical. I don't have to run another PARE because my one from June is still good.
I have to thank JIMCR and Jay for creating this website because it's great to be able to talk to people in your shoes.

hey again everyone. Just wanted to know if you have something on your credit rating does that lessen your chance of getting in sooner or how does that work? I don't really understand what your credit rating would have to do with being a cop. Can anyone help me out here?

Coltray,
This is a cut and paste from another post I wrote in, hope it helps. In my opinion the same goes for your credit rating. To me a good credit rating shows maturity and acoutability. Bad credit ratings show irresponsibility which I assume the RCMP will view as a picture of your whole life and attitude.
"A big reason for having your debt ratio down to a managable level is that they might concider you more succeptable to bribs from organized crime, etc. If you owe too much they probably won't hire you. Try to get rid of the credit cards with a home equity loan if possible. I am currently in the process here in Canada for the RCMP and I had to liquidate my RRSP's to pay down my debt and get money to live while at depot. We don't get paid for our 22 weeks training! The only consolation is that after 25 years service we get a fairly good pension so I figure the amount of RRSP's I will need in 25 years won't be so high. I also had to sell my truck and wash out that loan. A little bit of sacrifice now means a career I know I will love so I think it is worth it."
Sporto
PS I heard that my last former employer was contacted on Monday the 9th. I am giving it until next Monday and then will take some of my own advise and call K division to check on the status of my application. My next step I assume is to run my final PARE as it expired last October. Great news ACE13! Its all downhill from here.

Hi everyone, congratsulations for the one already at depot. For Ace, Storm, Jamaf, and the others who are at the door step, WAY TO GO!! I am still waiting for the package....aahhh but it should be here soon. Probably in the next month. \ Anyways, last year in BC the cutoff mark was 3.7 for the interviews. This year it must of changed. My buddy scored a 3.72 and got the "Dear John" letter. I am going to give E Division a quick call to see if they can tell me this blocks' interview mark. On the other note, the Reserve class is going very well. A lot of great education. Can't wait for the simulations and the arrest procedures in the gym. It should be a great help if I ever make it in to a police department. Chat later Glenn

Hey guys, Well, that's it for me! I just finished my final medical today. I know my dental and medical by the RCMP doctor has cleared. I just have to wait for my bloodwork, chest xray, EKG and psychological to clear now. And for my background check to complete (which I know will take the longest). Congrats to others and good luck to the others who are waiting. Take Care Ace13

I heard a rumor that the RCMP may have received a blow and cut to its funding as of late. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Never heard that Sporto. I was speaking with a Cst. at recruiting today and he said that things are really busy at depot these days and it's a great time for recruits wanting to get in. Although, I guess if this is recent news, it mightn't have travelled down the line yet. It wouldn't surprise me though, because things have been going so good for me now! Keep us posted if you hear any more on this Ace13

I never heard anything like that Sporto. I was talking to my recruiter here and she was going through all my paperwork. They missed one lab test so I needed to go back and get it done. I called to follow up, and to try and get a timeline. I asked her outright what are the chances of me going before the end of Oct. She told me I hsould be asking what are the chances of me going before the end of September! Apparently as fast as files get finished they are being put through. A troop a week, that is a lot of bodies!
For everyone still waiting, get up the diligence, good things come to those who wait. I have been in the process for two years plus. Looks I might finally get my chance soon.
HAng in there guys! If I get a call sometime this week I am sure ou will hear the WHOOP of joy whereever you are too! ;D

ahhh Damn. Well Glenn I also scored a 3.72 so it looks like i'd better start hitting the muncipal police tests. Thanks for the info though. To Coltray. I scored a 3.96 last year (A year of graveyard only shifts doesn't do wonders for your marks!!!) and I made it to the interview. However, I had a credit card that almost went to collections about 5-6 months before the interview. This cost me a year and it looks like it cost me a chance to be in the RCMP considering how poorly I did the second time around on the RPAT. Is credit important? Yes. I didn't see it comming. I was told by the recruiter that he thought I'd make an excellent candidate and that I would have scored very high on the benchmarking section, but for security reasons that he couldn't recommend me. So there you go. It is important.

Well BC is done for me. The last of my contacts in BC were visited yesterday. Now all I have left is 2 in Alberta (unless they visit some old neighbors there too) I run my final pare tomorrow and then they can send me for my final medical. The background investigator told one of my contacts that I should be in by mid October ;D. here's hoping. Now is the stress of getting everything in order at home. I have 3 kids twin boys 6 1/2 and my youngest son is 2 1/2. My wife is awesome. ;DShe has been supportive in this process the whole way through and plans to look after everything while I'm away. Anyone else here on this board in my situation? leaving wife/husband and kids? This is gonna be a tough 6 months being away from home. We finally told the older boys what was going on and that daddy had to go away for 6 months. The younger of the twins started to cry and said "daddy I don't want you to go away" RIP MY HEART OUT aaaaaaaaaa After a lot of hugs and a few tears he is ok with it now but time will tell when I finally get the call. Ok now that I have vented I am going outside to spend time with my kids.

That is awesome for you Jamaf ;D. You must be pretty excited now. Although I know you must be torn about leaving your wife and kids. It's really important that you have a supportive wife! I must admit, reading your post about your son made me choke a little So did the recruiter say that you will be given a slot, like with a few weeks notice or anything for October? Or will you be called on a wednesday or thursday to leave the following saturday? Hang in there Epoxy7, check out other forces, but don't lose hope yet. It's odd but I know a lady who scored higher than me in the same province but didn't get picked up for the April selection. I'm not sure why, but she's waiting for October's selection now to see if she'll make the second round. Anyway, good luck folks. Ace13

Good job Storm. Best of luck in Regina. FYI, the winter in Sask will be no better than in Newfoundland. Probably colder! Cheers and see you there I hope.
