hey guys,
glad to hear everyone is moving along the way they are. just wanted to get some input from those that have completed the interviews. i'm preparing for the interview, trying to get my life experiences in order. as i go through the competencies, sometimes i'm not sure if a given experience that i use is a "good enough" example. its hard to know what type of experience they are looking for. i'm using the STAR principle for each type of possible question that i think they could ask me. i've read the definitions, and try to use an experience that i have gone through to exhibit that competency. i guess what i'm wanting to know is that, is any type of example a good one as long as it can fit the competency? i've read the books that they suggest reading, and gone over the interview guide a bunch of times as well. i'll try to keep up to date on current topics in the news. since i live in BC, the most relevant one at the moment would have to be street racing and the tradegy over the weekend.
any help or advice would be appreciated, as well as any tips on what else i could do to better prepare or know beforehand. thanks

Hi Ruffrider,
You are doing a lot of prep, one tip a buddy of mine used was he spoke to other people he worked with concerning the competencies. He is a sheriff here at the courts. He spoke to some of is co workers about his handling of situations and what they thought were good points and how it was done.
Sometimes an outsiders view can point out some experiences that are more appropriate or show you in a better setting.
Hope htis helps.

I'm sure that you will do ok in your interview and I can associate with how you feel. I felt the same way, not sure that I prepared enough. If you have an example for the competencies, then you'll do fine. Try to think of two examples, if you can, so that when you get into the interview you can tell the one example, if you feel that it wasn't enough, you have another example to fall back on. Good luck on your interview! By the way, you can edit or delete your own posts at any time. SO if you want to get rid of the duplicates when you are logged in, just click delete which appears to the right hand corner of the post. Ace13

I tell you if things were going any faster right now I would not be able to see through the smoke. wow The field investigator just left my house. He has already spoken to my neighbors and a few of my friends. He said that He should be done his part of the investigation by this weekend. HOOO HOOO. Now I just have to wait for 2 contacts on the main land and 2 contacts in Alberta and I'm done. I also got a call this morning from the RCMP Medical division saying that all my stuff is back and they just need me to do my final PARE. I have that booked for Sunday. I'm heading to Vancouver to do that since they cant get me in anywhere on the Island. The investigator said that they are planning to put a lot of troops through all the way till December. ;D great for all of us
