Good luck Coltray You will probably come out of the test with a bit of a feeling on how well you did. One thing is for sure you had better get use to waiting... thats the main thing about this process is waiting. 15months since I wrote my rpat and I'm still waiting. ;D

Well I just finished writing my exam about 3 hours ago. It wasn't as bad as I thaught it would be. So now I guess I just have to sit and wait, and wait, and wait. The instructor said it is a very long process and only a few will get in anyways. It kinda makes me wonder how long one should wait? I just wonder why they have to make it so long for every process. 700 people will write their exam this month so boy oh boy are we up against alot of people for so few jobs.

Coltray,
That's the hardest thing, sitting and waiting to get your mark back. Actually, it's a good thing that you wrote when you did, hopefully, you'll be just in time for the October selection, so you won't have to wait very long. I had my application package a long time before I actually got my mark back. I waited over 6 months to get my mark, it had been lost in the mail twice.

On a sad note, the RCMP lost another member early this morning in Richmond, BC. Goes to show how dangerous the job is at ALL times, even at 0300 hrs while driving through a green light. cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/rcmp_sep15-cp.html

That is horrible! Drivers make me really angry. I see them running red lights all the time and doing stupid things! It was bad enough when an "accident" occurs, but it's worse when somebody disobeys the traffic rules, fatally injures somebody else and then leaves the scene! It's just horrible!

someone said that the selection process is in October? I wrote the rpat June 1st (there was a second writing July some time that would be in the same selection). Does anybody know if these two writings are for the October selection? Also this time around I only scored a 3.72 compared to my previous 3.96 (was deffered due to a credit card almost going to collections 6 months before). Does anyone know if this score is even remotely competitive? -Also I'm from Richmond BC. This morning Richmond lost a member of the RCMP due to a trafic accident. I hate hearing about stuff like this. The awful driving, high speeds and expensive cars in this area are really taking their toll.

Epoxy7,
I would say that both testing periods will be for October selection, plus anyone who didn't make April's selection will be moved ahead to that pool. Not sure what the cutoff mark is for your area. I know for NF, it was 4.25 for white males during the April selection. Good luck!
I'm heading to HQ today to write my psychological exam.

Epoxy 7 I live on Vancouver Island. I wrote in June 2001 and scored 3.75 . I made the cut at that time but it does change. I received my draft pkg on Nov,7th so it could be any time next month or so for you. Good luck.
I attended another information session a few months back just to see what was new and exciting in this long process. What I did learn was that with the new recruiting process the RCMP is implementing ie:polygraph and staggering the interviews. They can see more people, effectively lowering the cut off score. Time will tell let us know..

Thanks for the info Jamaf. I had my interview last July (2001). Actually July the 11th to be exact ( I refer to it as black Wednesday). I'm actually planning on applying for a few municipal police forces around here. I've just come off working a year and 3 months of solid graveyard shifts. So I'm waiting until I readjust to the day time (still a bit slow upstairs during the days). I don't want a repeat of my low rapat score. The slow RCMP process is frankly just too much. I'm glad they are trying to speed things up. Otherwise it would be faster in some cases to apply for municipal police and then transfer into the RCMP after 2 years. Some people have been in the process for at least that long already. I guess I'll just wait and see what happens. Good luck to everyone waiting out this process.

Well guys, alot is new since the last time I wrote. I did my psychological exam yesterday. My character reference in Nova SCotia was checked, my close associate in BC has an appointment for thursday to talk about me, my employer in Toronto was contacted. AND the RCMP called me and I'm doing my final medical on thursday and friday of this week. I think they want everything cleared up so as soon as the background check completes, I'll be off to Regina (that's hoping everything goes well). Needless to say, I'm excited right about now, a little shocked though! I wasn't expecting my final medical until after Christmas. This doesn't mean that I will go before Christmas, but who knows!
