Holy cow 65wpm .... the instructor at the coarse told me that one guy had been back 3 times just to get it done with no errors. Its funny the inconsistencies that show up in this process.

Howdy! What are the chances of driving around the Inernet and finding people from your troop. I am from Alberta and leaving for Regina this Saturday as part of Troop 15. As for your questions about the 10-code. Well, in Depot they teach you the Alberta 10-code, which (so i'm told by a recent graduate)is different than the other provinces. Any how, it's nice to hear from others that will be in Regina before arriving there.

Wow things are smoking along on my end. I got a call today saying that my background investigation has started. ;D My recruiter told me that she expects it to take a month or so and that I should be ready to go to Depot at any time after that. And She meant any time. To give me and example she said she had been calling people this morning informing them that they had to be in Depot by THIS weekend.
I can almost reach the top of that mountain....

Good stuff Jamaf, won't be long now. The BC recruiting office has been rather busy lately, hasn't it? Hope it spreads to the central provinces also.

Hope it goes well Jamaf. Feb 3 they told me 4-6 weeks for the background and it finally completed Aug. 30. Not sure I would place too much faith in these time estimates.

Hey Jamaf, That's great news!!! I was talking to the recruiter yesterday. She said that it has been really busy and they are sending recruits like mad. She said that if everything was done for me, I'd be gone to depot now. But my file has been sent out to 7 different places for the background check. She said so she really can't tell me how long that will take because they are depending on other provinces to check references and work places. I have references spread across BC, Ontario, Nova Scotia and NF. Anyway, we'll see how it goes. Although in the meantime, she told me that as soon as they get some of my information coming back cleared, she is going to have me come in and do the psychological exam and start the medical. It's a really busy time of year because there is one troop a week going through depot. If my background check could finish quickly, I'd hit the good time of year. Unfortunately, if it don't and it goes into the winter, then they only send 1 troop a month through depot, so there is usually no extras getting sent, only the normal allotment. So everything slows in the winter. They usually send 1-2 people to depot a week here, but lately, they've been sending 5-6 people a week from NF. And believe it or not, the recruiter said that the extra alotments are coming from BC. They can't fill all their slots. Good luck everyone Ace13 When did your background check start Jamaf?

Well, yesterday I did the dental, pre med screening and psyche test. Today I went down, received the once over by the doctor and ran that last PARE! Yippee for me I have no unusual lumps or bumps and I covered the PARE no sweat. I have to just sit and wait for the psyche result, this is the worst now, waiting for someone to say I am normal, or atleast close to it . They are really putting people thruough guys, so all those waiting it should not be to much longer. They had my background done in 6 weeks. As long as all your info is not to spread out, they can cver the ground pretty quik.

Jamaf, you said that your background check will only take one month. Does your file need to be sent out of the province?? I'm wondering how long it will take for my background check to be completed. Like I said before, my file has to be sent to 7 provinces. Recruiting here said that BC are usually the most backlogged, so it might take the longest to get a reference check back from BC. Can anyone give me any words of encouragement, or at least give me their opinion?? I'm just very excited!!!! Ace13

Ace, The girl I talked to the other day said that my background may take as little as a month, but maybe more. My file has to be sent to Saskatchewan as well. I have heard that if your file has to go to other provinces then you have several people from each province doing the checks. In that case, they could all be checking at the same time, therefore things may go quickly. It is really hard to say.

It would be good if things moved quickly, but I'm honestly not expecting to hear anything until the new year, and perhaps maybe a few months into the new year.
Thanks for the info Jamaf, you never know, perhaps things will move quicker!

I hate to say it ACE but the more places your BI has to be done in the slower things may go. That just means 7 separate places for someone to forget or drop your file behind a desk like Hopefulls ?(I think it was). Make sure to keep up with each place, if you can, and ensure that they have 1) in fact received your file and 2) they are completing it. I had three places to complete for my BI. Two were done very quickly and Calgary took about 4 months due to delays and a loss of BI investigators due to G8. Today the investigator is calling my last former employee and hopefully forwarding my complete file to K division for the final OK. I thought everything was completed over 2 months ago yet, when I called two weeks ago he said he had two former employers of mine still to do. If I never called I have a feeling he would have gotten to mine when ever he had the chance. He also said he had some applications on his desk that had not been touched in 4.5 months. I only assume that because I called he took out my file and started to finish it realizing how little I had left??!! I know it is difficult when they don't call and update you and at the same time you don't want to continuously call and bug them. I would make sure to keep in touch with each place doing your BI at least once every 4-6 weeks if possible. If you don't you may find your application unnecessarily delayed for quite some time. I don't mean to scare you but make sure to look after your application. Good luck!

Thanks for your imput Sporto, and that is exactly what I am dreading will happen to my file. The only thing I have going for me is that the Corporal who sent my file out attached a note saying that it should be done immediately or as soon as possible because they are waiting for it to return. Now perhaps that is routine. If I had realized that this would be the case, I would have never chosen references that lived in other provinces. It's just that when I received my package and I was filling out my information, I thought that I would choose the people that know me the best as well as know me throughout my life. I had other references to choose from, but I just selected a variety of friends who knew me in various ways. oh well, it's a learning experience. So how did you go about contacting other departments? Did you just call up their recruiting offices, or did you call your recruiter from your own province, who put you in contact with the others?? I guess I'll give it a month and see if anything is returned. The recruiter from here said that the only good thing about my file is that they are only asking about 1 thing from each of these divisions, so hopefully, it won't take too long. Does anybody else know anything else about background checks? out of provinces checks?? etc.?? Thanks again Sporto, hopefully I'll be lucky enough not to have my file fall behind someone's desk!!!
