HI Guys, I went on a ride-along today with the RCMP. It was alot different than the municipal force in the city where I live. It was a slow day, some routine traffic stops, some speeders, complaints and alarm calls, but nothing extremely exciting. Although I enjoyed it nonetheless! The member I was out with was also female and she gave me her perspective on the law enforcement side of things and depot. She told me that I could come out with her a few more times or she'll arrange for me to go out with some of the other guys at the detachment. Ride-alongs are great experiences though and really give you an idea on what to expect out on the beat! Ace13

thanks for the welcome everyone. I am starting kick boxing to try to get into better shape for the fitness test, although I don't even know when I would do that yet. By the sound of you guys talking it takes a very long process. On an average how long am I looking at? There was a few questions on the lie detector test is this something new they brought in? I don't think it is a bad idea to have that then thye know for sure if your lieing I guess.

Got my call today for the troop starting next week. Seems like a long wait but it's here now. 19 months. I have found the information and support on the board to be very valuable and the level of committment of everyone here certainly shines through. Good luck everybody, probably see some of you at depot as there till Feb. Once again thanks for all the support and hang in there.

STILLWAITING - Good job. Check your private messages. Can you 'stillwait' for a week longer? I'll assume so. Are you able to leave your current employer so quickly, that was a concern of yours if I remember correctly?
Good luck and keep us posted if you get a chance, we're all curious about the first and second weeks of Depot.

Congratulations Stillwaiting, you must be pumped!!! Good luck with depot, I'm sure you'll do great there. I watched a troop video yesterday and it looks like alot of fun. With some hard work, dedication and the support from the troop, all graduated after 22 weeks. Keep in touch if you can, but if not, who knows, perhaps one of us will see you in depot at some time. What troop number are you? Ace13

Congrats Donewaiting (stillwaiting),
Must be a great feeling. I wish you the best of luck.
I just got back from 2 weeks work up in FSJ and Fort Nelson and was kind of hoping to get some word from the RCMP when I got back. Nothing! I called recruiting here in Calgary and was told that they still have two of my employers in Calgary here to finish! Man I thought that was all finished 2 months ago! The ball sure rolls slowly here in ALberta. I was told they hope to finish my last two employers interviews in the next 2 weeks (that means 2 months in RCMP talk!!LOL). Then they ship it to Edmonton for final review, another 2 months! The recruiter did say however that everything regarding my application to date looks very good. I am now hoping for late winter or early spring. The office here in Calgary had 9 investigators doing applications before G8 and now they are down to one! Looks like I am in it for the long haul.

Thanks for the best wishes everyone, I appreciate it.
Jamaf - I've been looking forward to changing my name for a long time, maybe "damnihurt" till the end of depot?
marcusinmb - checked for private message but didn't get it, leaving work on short notice has been a challenge but I wasn't waiting anymore.

AWESOME Stillwaiting! THat is great news, I am happy to hear your waiting has paid off.
I finished off my keyboarding cert today and have my medical and final PARE next week. Anyone know what they do in the final medical? I have my dental, pre med and psyche on Thursday and final medical and PARE on Friday. I had to get bloodwork, chest x-rays and EKG already.
I received my package today to start online course and barring me breaking a limb or having some weird disease I don't know about, I can't see anything else holding me up after next week. I will be posting after next week to let you all know how it goes.
Thanks for all the support this group has given, for those still grinding thru the process, DON"T LOSE HOPE! It will come if you wait and hang in there.

Stillwaiting/d**ihurt,
Looks like we'll be in the same troop. I received a call yesterday, Aug 27, to report to Depot this weekend.
It's been a long 21 months but from my perspective right now it's all worth it. I've been reading this board since the beginning of my process and I want to thank everyone for their support, encouragement, and advice.
Good luck everyone!

Well I just found out that a couple references had been contacted on Monday. As I expected my local detatchment did such a rush job (after DIVHQ had to crack the whip) that my file got sent back in order for them to actually talk to my references. The frustrating thing was that it was sent up a month ago and only this week did they find fit to talk to people.
HQ had told me to expect to be going "end of August/beginning of Sept." so I've been on pins and needls for the last week or so. All for nothing.
Sorry for this non-constructive rant. Just had to get it off my chest. After all I can't go punching walls as a broken hand wouldn't go over well in depot ;D
