Hi guys, I'm new to the board.
With regards to getting dropped after one year, this is true, it happened to me. I had everything completed up to the background check and was dropped because of the cutbacks and lack of positions at depot. But fortunately, I was reactivated a few months ago. Right now, my background check is in progress. I was reactivated because HQ didn't have any other applicants to go to depot if they received "extra spots" from other provinces that couldn't be filled. So about 10-12 of the 20 or so applicants who were previously dropped, were reactivated. So now, I sit and wait for the completion of my background check. Hopefully, it will not be too much longer. I've been in this process now since Aug 2000 when I wrote my RPAT.

If you had your hearing test and/or eye test completed after running the PARE, do you need to do another test for the final medical?

Well good luck this time as well!!! I'm sure you'll knock their socks off. I spoke to the recruiter today and she told me that I should be having my interview before the end of August. I was on holidays for the last two weeks and now she is going on holidays today and interviewer is gone on holidays until Monday, so there was no time to arrange it until she gets back from her vacation . . .oh well. So hopefully, everything well go well in August! Keep us posted Jamaf. We are rooting for ya.

Just curious Storm, what province you are in? With the huge demand for policing these days being dropped liked that sounds very strange.

I'm in Newfoundland. I was dropped in February 2002 because I had been on the list for one year then and never went any further. Apparently, they overestimated how many they would be sending to depot and just had too many people on the list. But on the other side of things, I'm re-activated now, so I'm happy with that. ALthough the RCMP has been quite the rollercoaster ride for me, so I won't be excited until I get off the plane in depot.

Ace 13,
No, you do not repeat the eye and hearing exams.
After the interview you receive a medical package that involves bloodwork, ECG, chest xray, dental checkup. You do the legwork for all these test yourself although the costs are borne by the RCMP. The RCMP doctor assesses these tests.
A few months after you send all that off you see a doctor for a complete physical. I did all my testing early Jan. and did my physical June 5. HQ said their doctor reviews my physical. Not quite sure how long that took, probably a couple of weeks.

Congrats Jamaf ;D You are that much further ahead now, you passed what most say is the biggest hurdle of all. So compared to the RPAT and PARE, was the Interview the hardest? How long was your interview? You must feel great now! Keep us posted on your status! Ace13

Hi everyone, I just received my results from the rcmp rpat test. Remember last year I got a 3.5. Well this year my score is 4.29. This year took only7 weeks to get the results. This year was a different test than last years. I am very happy with the results. I've worked hard and its paying off. I am proud of myself. It may come easier for others, espically the younger ones coming out of school. But for me its been a hard adjustment going back to school, but I am enjoying the results. Chat later Glenn Remeber, becoming a cop isn't something that happens overnight. It takes a good solid weekend of training to get that badge......LOL

Congratulations on the nice score.
I dunno about the age thing. I'm 36 years old and scored a 4.58 first time out.
I think we have an advantage in that we didn't have to go through any of the year 2000 B.S. We older folk don't spell things the way they sound; we just spell them right.
