The standard for the fall at Depot is:
Fall to the back
1. Under control 2. Shoulder blades and hips must be touching the mat 3. When getting up, you may not use the mat as leverage to pull yourself up.
Fall to the front
1. Under control 2. Stomach and chest must be touching...looks almost like you are in the pushup position.
Cheers, RY

I can't remember where people are in the process anymore Even just a lot of walking will make a difference in your cardio! I walk around 50-60 kms a week and it made a difference for me!

Bas, good to know. It does get easier everytime you run it...I took 20 secs off the second time I ran! Made up alot of time on the push pull the second time. Its all about technique. RJB, I had that problem with the mat too. What I found works better is if you rotate a quater turn to the left as you jump over. That way your foot will land sideways, and should clear the mat, plus you're also facing the correct direction for making the turn around the pylon too.

I kind of naturally started doing this while taking a bi-weekly PARE/POPAT prep course. I came close to breaking my ankle a couple times and started to feel the strain pretty good after about two weeks so I just learned to jump properly.

Hey guys
the best way to prepare yourself for the PARE is circuit training... you need to set up like a mini obstacle course
It is pretty easy to do if you have the space~! set up laps so you do stairs then run, then leap over a mat, then run, then jump over pilons(the taller ones) and if you have access to a vault that would be awesome.. if you add these into your normal lap routine you will build muscle memory so your legs won't get burnt out. as for the push\pull most gyms have the rowing machine which you can use for the pull part.. and if your gym has a push out shoulder press, then that simulates the push part. Don't know if that helps anyone at all.

I did turn my foot for laps 1-5, but during the last lap I was running out of steam so I couldn't build up enough speed. PEICHICK you're right, now that I know exactly how it's done, I am going to start working on obstacle course at home. Another thing, be sure to really tighten up those shoe laces.

I was told four days ago that the earliest I would be going was April/May ......then yesterday I received a phone call and was told a person scheduled for Feb 2 intake might back out and that they are planning for me to attend in place . There is so much to prepare for that I can't imagine how others have done it with 2 weeks notice or less. So if everything goes well, maybe I'll see some of you in Depot during 2004! Cheers all!! ;D

Depot/ Cell phones
This is for those of you at Depot or in Regina.. I am considering a cell phone for convenience while im at Depot. Can you suggest what company has the best coverage on the base.. ie Rogers, Bell, Fido, Telus.
Further to this can you let me know if you think a cell is usefull for the time there..
Thanks!
