RCMP Cadets sick with mysterious ailment REGINA - Several cadets and staff at the RCMP Training Academy have been hit with a mysterious stomach illness in the last 48 hours.
Sixty-two people are being treated for severe bouts of vomiting and diarrhea.
Test results won't be available until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest.
RCMP Training Academy Dr. Warren Dufour, with the RCMP, says it doesn't seem to be a food-borne illness.
"We had a number of cases, starting with one, then six, then twenty, and it, and from the symptoms, it looks like a Norwalk-like virus, although we're waiting for laboratory confirmation," said Dufour.
Officials have since said the outbreak may be what doctors call a "Noro-like" virus which is spread "person-to-person" and often shows up at institutions where many people are in close contact. A special triage has been set up in the academy gymnasium to treat people who are sick.
This outbreak is similar to another outbreak three years ago when almost 300 people fell ill. The sickness turned out to be the Norwalk virus, but it was never determined how people had contracted the virus

So macguy9, if you did your PARE on June 17......and recruiting states that you probably won't have to re-do it....then that would make a possible Depot time before Dec 18? Is that correct? That is quite a zippidydo timeline if it works out. I can't remember, have they started calling your references yet? Yeah, no finger test for me either...can't wait till I'm 45 or so for that extra treatment With any luck, it will be done soley by blood test by then, and we won't have to worry about the alien probe! ;D Yeah, I kinda picked up on that PARE thing too. But it might not mean anything... because she said that as long as I still had my PARE by the time they finish my medical, that I woudn't haev to redo it. Note, they didn't say 'by the end of my BGI'. Could mean that as long as the ticket's valid before my med's done, I'm golden. We'll see.

Macguy,
that was the impression i got. you only need the valid pare for your medical sign off....mind u it is usually not a long time from medical sign off to finishing bi and getting your marching orders.
talked to van hq today. they told me everything from the bi is done, just waiting for two 'internal' checks from 'downstairs' any body know what this might be?
the end draws near ;D

Oooh BCRCMP wanabee you are almost there!! ... next steps would be putting it on the Sgt's desk and then assuming all is great the CALL. Although sometimes the Sgt sends it out again because something hasn't been done to his/her satisfaction. The internal checks would include running you again on pirs, cpic etc. just incase and your read through to make sure all is completed and in order. That is great news will pass it along to Jas... check his timeline to get an idea of where you are. Looking forward to hearing when you are heading out and your Troop #

Bas... Thanks so much for posting that link to the National Post article...that is very exciting. RCMP Members have been telling me for a while that it was prime opportunity to be applying but this certainly confirms it in a more official scale. I do not normally read the National Post so I appreciate you catching this and bringing it to the board. to update..looks like I will finally be able to start my process again with info sessions finally being scheduled here in Nova Scotia...what a pain in the @#$ to have to attend another one of these just to be able to write the RPAT again. Anyhow, perhaps the recruitment review the article speaks of will pick out some of these inefficiencies and allow for the process to speed up a bit. Congrats to BCRCMPwannabe (you should change the name to BCRCMPgonnabe) you are almost there... and good luck to all others in the process...I am loosing track of where you all are in your timelines...but looks like we are all truckin along. Have a good day... Mountie2be

Happy times. Did the medical, doc said there's no problem with me and signed me off for the physical part. Now, assuming there's no problem with the psych or the BGI, I'm home free! ;D

BCRCMPwanabe....we might just be going into the same troop. I too just talked to recruiting and have the "two internal" checks before the final check over. For what I can gather....one of the checks is getting your finger prints back from Ottawa...not sure what the other one is. It seems that I am jumping to the phone everytime it rings nowadays.......can the application process almost be over?

What is going to happen when the RCMP implement the poly and lose half their already meager number of aplicants as "deceptive"? Should be good.

You know, I've been having a real hard time tracking down these 50% of deceptive applicants...so far I've only found 3, and 2 of them are on this board...hmmm....

journey,
Reason being is that this is an RCMP applicant board. Last I checked the RCMP had not implemented the poly yet. The horror stories will come.
Don't be so easy to smuggly reply as you did and research the poly. On average, 50% of applicants get labelled deceptive. Some rightfully so, most (I assume) not.
RJB2003 I feel sorry for you that you neively think that if the polygrapher indicates they are deceptive they are beyond a reasonable doubt.

Oh the poly...... I am looking forward to the poly talk when the rcmp puts it into full swing.....I do not think the 50% deceptive rate is accurate. Guest, please show me the stats on this...I don't even think George M's site has stats that high. I do agree that 'some' might be labled incorrectly....as this already happens. During the interviews people get labled as not suitable.....but no scientific study has proven recruiters 100% accurate in their opinions. Interesting. I think the question is: will the poly help choose the best suited applicants for policing. Probably yes. J2CSP...now quit with that 'smuggliness'

Oh no we are turning this into a poly discussion again.
guest78
Both the LAPD and the FBI have recorded stats detailing their poly fail rate at 50%. This has been discussed and stated ad nausem on Georges webpage. That was in fact where I got it. BS you say?? George is great at backing his posts and statements with factual data.
