I just received a call from RCMP recruiting in Edmonton requesting info on my girlfriend as we now live together. They neeed to do a securtiy check on her as well. It is a good sign that the ball is still rolling here in Alberta in light of the G8 conference this week (no scurmishes to report to date except for the 100 or so nude activists in front of a GAP store!).
Later,

this subject seems to have died down. perhaps everyone could mention what stage they are at........myself, i handed in my application and waiting for the call for an interview. probably the greatest hurdle to face in the whole process. i got a couple of the books they mentioned, and trying to prepare myself. any suggestions from anyone else already done the process.....or waiting as well?

Ruffrider, It sounds like you are at the same stage of the process as myself. I handed my app in mid June and am prepping for the interview. It may besome time from now.
Jamaf, Think of this as just another stage in the process. You've made it this far, so there's no reason that you shouldn't go all the way. Good luck and review all that you've learned,
Moose

At the risk of being renamed "stillwhining", I am still waiting now 9 month post interview and 7 months post medical clearance. HOWEVER, the elusive one piece of the background check that took over 6 months to complete (fell behind someones desk I think) has been returned to recruiting. They're doing their last little bit there and I'm told to pretty much count on August. Apparently 5 troops August. Not holding my breath though, I'll believe it when I actually arrive at depot. Hang in there everybody.

4 days till the interview.... My nerves are alot better that they were when I first got the call. Not much more prep I can do now other than watch the news and read the paper to keep up on local events.. Time will tell.

Good luck Jamaf. Let us know how things went. My neighbor in Aridrie told me the RCMP interviewed her just before G8. I am finished everything except for my psyc results which are still in Ottawa getting marked? Once those get back I am competely finished and wait for my call in August or September if all goes according to plan.

Well it over "sort of" I got to the interview and was informed that they were starting to do the interviews a bit differant. My security interview would be first followed by the suitablity interview in about 3 weeks or so. AAAAAaaaaa anyway I passed the security interview no problem. It was very straight forward. So now I wait "again" for the suitablity interview. The interviewer informed me that I also would have to take the poly graph and did I have any problem with that. I said no problem fire away.
Well thats it I will keep you guys posted as things happen.

SO does this mean that the POLY is now in use by the RCMP. Has any one actually done a poly with them yet? OnedaySoon "Find a job you love and you will never work a day in your life!"

What I was told is that the RCMP are implementing the polygraph. They are also restructuring the recruiting prossess as I found out by having my security interview first. The recruiter told me that I would have to go through the polygraph but he was not sure when.

hey jamaf,
good to hear that your security interview went well. thats interesting that they are implementing the polygraph. its more stressful now that they have split things up, before you would find out right away.....now the waiting gets longer and more nerve-racking. are you in the E division? if so.....do you know what the prospects are? good luck

hey ruffrider Yes I am in "E" division . The recruiter told me that they would be doing a lot of hiring out BC in the next few years. "BC is desperate for memebers. " He said I was applying at a good time. ;D The only good thing I can say about having the security interview first is that its good practice for the longer more important suitablity interview.

Wow, big changes to the process. I think I have mentioned before that one thing I really liked was leaving that interview with kind of everything you have control over all done in one afternoon, now that's changed. We should get a masters degree in patience just for hanging on in the process!! Good luck on your next hurdle Jamaf.
