I just found out today that the RCMP is doing the final portion of my background and security checks. My last reference was contacted yesterday and it sounded very promising. The interviewer actually told my reference that my application looked very favorable and that after his talk with my reference it looked even more favorable. I didn't think the RCMP would divuldge any sort of info regarding someones application or hint towards one way or the other. Either my refernce is great at getting tidbits of info out of people or he is good at making me feel better! LOL I haven't heard whether they have contacted my local past employers but I am going to make some phone calls this weekend.
That is great news Slider1. When they called did they tell you your application was all complete and that they were just waiting for an opening in Depot before they call you to go? Keep us posted.
Good luck on your RPAT score Glenn. When you wrote did they tell you what they required for a passing grade? Was the test easier or harder than last year?

All I can say is try other Police Forces!!!
I applied for the RCMP and then found an ad for the Calgary Police Service about 2 weeks after for an information session.
I did the PARE for both the RCMP and CPS (Calgary Police Service) about a week apart with the RCMP coming first... The day I got my request fro the RCMP to repeat my PARE because the prioir PARE expired was the start of my 3rd week in the CPS training...
Today I am 3 days away from recieving my badge...! YEAH!!! My dream hs Arrived!!! The Cagary Police Service is an amazing organization! The training is very intensive, but impressive in its throughness. I feel prepared for the street!
To everyone Else, Good Luck and don't give up!!!

Nice work GlennS! Congrats. A friend of mine just graduated from CPS last Friday (or was it the Friday before?). It was the Friday after the Erlton fire, anyways his name is Kelly and got posted in District One. PS You must have loved geting pepper sprayed, I heard it is one of the most exruciating things my friend Kelly has ever done!
My contact in the RCMP told me that they are closing/slowing down the classes in Depot for the months of July and August for the summer break. They anticipate running through about a class a week starting again in September. Their recruitment activities are not slowing just the number of classes they send to Depot. I can only assume from this that they have most of their phone calls placed for their classes up till the end of June. I guess we can expect another couple months of not hearing anything and then I expect to hear a couple posts here saying people are going in the fall and early spring. Lets hope it is all of us! I also heard it might be worth while calling your recruiter to see if he/she can divuldge whether your application is finished and if you are on their Depot waiting list for your province. Any news would help I guess.

Has any of you ever had any trouble receiving correspondence (ex. RPAT mark) from Ottawa HQ?

Well. It was a pleaseure reading all these posts. I had no clue that the waiting list was so long. Glad I browsed. Another thing, congrats to all those members that had passed all the tests and are now waiting. Your stories are motivating.
I have just set myself a date to attend an information session for the RCMP. It will be held in Quebec (for some reason, after reading this post, I'm slightly more worried) and it will be the beginning to what will be a long journey I have set myself upon. I have applied to two agencies for the time being. Similar to a few others here, it has been the RCMP and the Peel Regional Police.
Anyways, I guess the posting begins and the journey follows.
Oh, BTW, I have to do the tests for the Peel Regional Police in August. Written and Physical. I have taken note of the books mentioned in these posts.
Thank you all for the plethora of information.
Talk soon!

I got a little curious so I phoned the recruiting office the other day. I asked if they could tell me anything about my pkg and what kind of a time frame I was looking at. She said that my pkg was handed over to the interviewer on May 27th and I should receive a call soon hay it sometimes lookes like this process is not moving but it is... slowly... but it is moving ..... ;D

I am preparing for the interview as well guys. Although, you can only read through the interview guide so many times. My recruiter told me that she'd like to have my interview completed by the end of June, but I would say that it will be more like the end of July before I have it. I wonder how many days in advance will they call you for the interview!

I've been preparing for a while ... Since I handed in my pkg in november I have read 3 books on interviews, made flash cards and bought a suit. So I am ready. I have heard scary things on how tough the interview is so I still am a bit nervous. This is sure a long time to put your life and that of your family on hold when you don't even know for sure that it's a sure thing. I really recommend the book "sweaty palms" its recommended on the prep guide and I found it to be quite helpful. Does any one else have any interview prep tips? I would LOVE to hear them... ;D

Well after one community taking 6 months to complete my background checks it has finally been all returned so we're getting closer. Medicals were all completed in November so hopefully things are moving along again! Recruiting sounded fairly confident I'd be going in August. I guess after the backgrounds come back they do one final security check at recruiting. 18 mths today since writing RPAT! Hang in there everybody.

Hey there everyone,
I got a call from an RCMP background investigator here in Calgary just two days ago. He needed my current address as I had moved 5 months ago and Edmonton never forwarded the letter I wrote telling them I had moved. I guess he was interviewing my last addresses neighbors and they said they hadn't seen me in a while. Go figure! LOL They have finally finished all my background and security checks! I can only assume that everything checked out OK and am just awaiting the big phone call to Depot. I asked the investigator that if everything was OK with my application when I could expect to go to Depot? He told me in approximately 3 months. That puts us in the end of September or early November. That makes sense with the info I received a couple of weeks ago that Depot was not going to accept classes for July and August. I heard they should be going nuts starting in September by sending a class a week for the next year.
I think you are right Stillwaiting about the final check at recruiting. The investogator told me that once all the background checks are complete in the various place/places you have lived, your package is pieced backed together in your home divisions main recruiting office (K-division out of Edmonton for ALberta) and forwarded to Regina where they make the final reviews and place the phone calls to go to Depot from there.
Good luck to all of us! I will keep you posted if I hear anyting.
