but if you recall the security interview, the rcmp is quite hard on this issue. Would you fall prey to not charging a cop for impaired driving for fear you might not be part of the group or some other perceived fear? Well the security interviews differ on a case by case basis, but, believe it or not, Impaired driving was not mentioned or asked about in either interview, maybe he thought I didn't do it or maybe he was the type that wasn't concerned about it...as for the not charging another cop, well I honestly can not say what I would do until I was placed in the situation, which I hope I never am...I would like to believe that I would charge them, but it's a different world when you're "behind the badge" so to speak. And yes, I do know a large number of officers. It's one of the reasons why I want to persue this career. However I think that this is one of those not really helpful posts (we seem to have a lot lately ) and I would rather not continue the discussion here. we can start a seperate thread for it if needed. It's a little of both actually. I had the day off today and decided to do something productive with it. ;D
Glad you found it useful!

J2CPS, fair enough answer...about not really knowing until you are in that situation. I just feel that if a person has strong values and convictions (not saying you don't) prior to getting into a "situation" then there is a better chance of a value based response opposed to a peer pressure type response. Anyways, back to the application stuff. You would think that the security interview would be the same for every one?? Another mystery of the rcmp. onedaysoon: good try. The car is quite a nice car, I didn't even know it existed. However, there is another definition....it is quite possible that the car name was used based on the definition of the word.....not that anyone cares, but zonda is a hot dusty north wind that occurs in S.America....an english word though. I think I just wasted a few minutes of everyones life with this statement

Hey J2CPS, are you going to start a website for your J2CPS. I enjoyed the other one you had when you had it. It would be interseting to see the timeline differences between the two.

Hey Goose, Yeah I think I will, once I get everything together again. Just have to make sure I don't put anything "question"able on it.... ;D

So I was having a bored day not too long a go and I decided to pop in on an Info Session for the rcmp just to get a hint on current hiring trends etc. I was amased at the stupid questions people ask. "I had my license suspendend but will be getting back by the time an interview comes around...is that ok?" Wow, are you that stupid.
The real kicker that made me appreciate the high standard the rcmp has in its hiring was a question from a fellow in his early thirties, "This is my third time applying....is it possible to do the rpat untimed? I can answer all the questions right however I sometimes have a problem with reading quickly, I've been like this since I was a kid" Are you serious??? My oh my, I was thinking how do you know you can answer all the questions right...you have never finished the exam!
The board has been quiet for a while, so I thought I would add this for your entertainment. It also shows that out of that 10,000 or so that apply every year, many are doomed to fail at the start.

I hear ya on that one, Goose. Some of the people you get applying are... well... let's just say that they're living in a permanent state of denial. When I attended my info session, I wasn't in the best shape. I could run perhaps 10 minutes at a time before getting exhausted. I had a belly. I weighed 240 pounds. In other words, I was the average married 30 year old man. ;D Anyhow, I realized that I would have to get into much better shape and do serious training (which I have done) to be ready if I went to depot. I wasn't too bad, but I needed improvement. Now... there were some people at the info session who were in bad shape... and I mean bad shape. One girl was about 350 pounds, and was sweating on a cool november afternoon. How she expected to pass the PARE, I have no idea. One guy was about 90 pounds, soaking wet. If he got dressed in full uniform, he would have fractured bones from the weight of the gun belt on his hips. And then, there were the idiotic questions... -Does it matter if you have a criminal record from another country? -How long do you have to have been off drugs before you can apply? Is 3 months enough? -If I request a posting to Toronto, do I have a good chance of getting it? (That one cracked me up) and my favourite... -It says here you have to be willing to work anywhere in Canada... it doesn't really mean anywhere, does it? Well, I suppose we should be thankful these people apply. We'd be a lot worse off if all 10,000 applicants were actually qualified to be an officer! ;D

RJB...if you still read these boards, how did your summer job go? Hey Dave, I finished my summer as a RCMP Supernumerary Special Constable on Monday night. I had a fantastic summer!! Sadly the RCMP summer student program is going to crap (we had nothing on us whatsoever that has the words "Student" or "RCMP".. had no yellow stripe, no baton, no oc spray.. nothing.) But it was good to see what goes on with general duty policing with the RCMP. I learned and saw a lot.. MVCs, suicides, a murder, assaults, thefts, B&Es, horses on the highway, blood warrants.. tonnes of stuff. So right now they are in the process of transfering me to Auxiliary Constable.. hopefully I will get in before K Div's Aux Program goes the way of E Div.. I plan to work as an Aux for a year then apply to Calgary Police Service. I love the tradition and freedom of the RCMP but I do not want to move away from Calgary. CPS has a lot of funding and resources.. plus anywhere in the city is pretty much steady. Not like being sent to an 2 person detachment that takes 150 complaints a year. How are things on your end?

Still waiting for my BGI to start I am looking forward to moving somewhere else in Canada, especially since I've lived in Toronto my whole life. I figure if I ask for Richmond/Surrey/Burnaby I should get one of those three...
