Hi everyone... Long time no post...been away for a couple of weeks and it took me all night last night to catch up on all the posts. Welcome to the newbies and congrats to those who are progressing in their efforts. Nothing really to update on my status as I am still waiting to start the process again not eligible to rewrite until at least sept.11th (when I wrote last year, passed but not selected in block 1 or 2) but have to wait for an info session to be scheduled first and then start this again.
Anyhow, my question is to those of you who have made it to interview stage and beyond. What role does financial status play? I have read a couple of posts in the past where people were deferred because of bills, or credit etc... I do not think I have anything to worry about but I do have debt the same as everyone else I am sure, mortgage, vehicle loan, student loan (wife's), and visa bill but other than that nothing out of the ordinary and I am pretty sure the above will not be cleaned up by interview time it is reasonable constant debt (if there is such a thing).., I do not see any of the above affecting how I would perform my duties as a police officer. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
p.s. Glad to see my "keep your stick on the ice" moto has been popular...have to give my credit to Red Green because that is where I got it...that is how he ends his show. It is a good moto though...keep focused and your eye on the goal..."keep your stick on the ice"

M2B, i had similar debts that i was concerned about. i asked my interviewer the same questions. he said it has to be much worse than the average joe. ie) bankruptcy, defaulted loans, collection agencies. my guess is u have nothing to worry about.

Well, I passed the security interview, and I have a mortage, visa bill, and car lease. I'm assuming that if you're in the same boat, you have nothing to worry about on the financial front.

Thanks guys for the quick reply...just trying to disspell any myths and weed through the various posts to figure out if this was a concern. Will do what I can with the debt between now and then but more for breathing room at depot (6 months without salary should be fun...) Not going to worry about it too much...have to concentrate on my rewrite of my RPAT this fall and get that out of the way.
Is there anyone else on this thread from the Maritimes? Nova Scotia in particular...? Just curious if I am the only east coaster.
take care. Mountie2be

Boy...you don't look at the posts for a few days and suddenly you have a few pages to read...I still can't fugure out which guest is which.
Anyways, in relation to the same question(s) being asked at both interviews...as was stated to me, the security interview is to determine your ability to obtain a security clearance..are you a risk to the rcmp. The suitability interview is to see if you are suitable for policing. Now this is probably obvious to most, but it should answer why some questions are covered twice...they are two separate interviews...some just get them back to back, others on different days.
I was also wondering about people that may answer all the question at the interview well, but just don't seem like the type for policing. We have all met the overzelous, or high on themselves/cocky types in the application procedure that you would hope never becomes a cop. Do you think that the interviewers try to find an area to get these types of people on as to make them not successful at the interview?

macguy9, you said that you got a call for the second interview (I think??). Did you post before that you have to do the suitability interview...then a third poly interview? Which did they say was first?

Regarding the re-asking of questions at both interviews, the reason they do that is to check the consistencies of your response. I noticed it with my interviewer during the security screening. She would ask the same question in multiple different ways, to see if my responses all 'jived'. I would only assume that they do that in the personell interview too.
As for my interviews Cab, they said that I would have to do the RMSIG and that the poly would be before that... but I'm going for my RMSIG tonight, and there was no mention of the poly. Perhaps they just mention that they 'can' do it, and they decide on a case by case basis if they 'should' do it.
My $0.02.

Has anyone used a rerference from the US. One of my references whom I have known for almost 9 years just moved to the States to do a PhD program and I still put his name down as one of my references. Would this delay my application process?...Thanks in advance...
