Thanks guys, It's hard to explain how proud I feel today, but I'm sure it's the same as you felt when you passed the PARE or any other obstacle. I'm going to start preparing for the interview now. The recruiter told me that it might be sometime this month or definitely within the next two. I'll keep you all posted Ace13

good job- shows what your determination and hard work is all about!!!If the RCMP schedules ride alongs and guest tours of their stations, please when the opportunity and time permits, go and take advantage of these things(I'm sure they'll be more than happy to give you an orientation or tour).Sit down and list the good things about yourself and deficiencies(particularly how you've worked through them) this will give you the chance to talk about yourself comfortably-an important issue in "selling" yourself to the interview board-learn a brief history of the agency ,its leaders# of officers, functions(you'd be surprised at how many people will go to an inteview board, and all they'll know is that the "job pays"-sad really)-accept no less than "victory" and you'll win the day.....

Hey there ACE,
For your interview, make sure you start reading the papers and watch the news if you don't already. Keep up on your current events. Have examples of either school, night classes, reading books, etc where you can show that you are trying to educate and better yourself constantly. Also take Cpl Mikes advice and study as much as you can about the RCMP and their definition of community policing. A ride along is a big plus as you should have some idea of what policing is like in the real world. One of my ride alongs with the RCMP was so boring, not a single call or traffic stop. At least I could say I had no illusions of grandure about becoming a cop, sometimes it gets pretty boring. In an interview I think that is where I would lead into the statement "I realize that becoming a police officer is not like the movies and TV. I am sure it can become very mundane at times but I feel it can be as busy or as slow as you want it to be. I think I would try to use the slow times to increase patrols of areas I usually would not get to if it were busier. I would try to increase the RCMP's public profile by making myself more accessible and seen during those slower shifts". Also study the RCMP interview guide they post on their webpage. Just some food for thought, good luck ACE.

Thanks guys, I guess I will soon get word as to when my interview will be. The recruiter told me that if all goes well, I should be off to depot in late fall give or take a couple months. I guess it depends on how other provinces fill their quotas. I am preparing for the interview now. It's hard to totally prepare, I am just familiarizing my own work history compared to their guidelines. I usually don't find job interviews too bad, but I know this is a totally different type of interview. Anyway, I'll reread some posts and research a little more and hopefully, everything will work out. A positive attitude has gotten me this far. Ace13

Funny how that works. I ran my pare in November and I still haven't heard exactly when my interview will be. I got a call from the recruiter last month to say that they had opened my pkg (Only took em 6 months to do that) and I could expect a call for the interview in the next 2 months or so. I asked her what kind of time line I could expect and she said "if everything goes well I should get to depot early next year." I'm like sooooo ready for the interview bring it on..... Maybe I need to move to the east coast. ;D lol One thing is for sure I'm in much better shape that I was 6 months ago. I've been running allot more and working out a little more intensively so I should have a better time on the next pare.

Yeah, Jamaf, it is really weird how things are different from province to province. The one thing I have learned about this entire process, is that nothing is final until you step off the plane in Regina. Things can turnaround really quickly, so I try not to get too excited when I hear timelines etc. Hopefully everything will work out for you, as I'm sure it will! Keep your head up, patience is the key! Hey, don't move to the east coast, that's more competition for me! lol ;D By the way for anyone interested, I found another website that has some interesting information: www.emsrecruiter.com/members/police/index.htmCheck it out. That's excellent news 8) Make sure you keep us posted. I went down to the local PD today and requested a ride-along. I had to write a letter to the Chief to request it. Anyway, good luck! Ace13 ;D

Hi everyone... Well I wrote the rpat test again. This year was a different test than last years. I can't believe it has been a year already, where does the time go? Now the waiting starts all over again. Hopefully this time it will be a shorter wait to get the results back. Last year it took 3 months to get the results. I am not even going to try and take a guess. Just hope that it is higher than last years score of 3.5 It better be..
Anyways, just checking in to see how everyone is doing.
To Ace, YEAH BABY!! you did it.. To Slider, way to go..have you got your bags packed?
Remember, becoming a cop isn't something that happens overnight. It takes a good solid weekend of training to get that badge.....( I love the Simpsons )

I hope that you did well on the RPAT Glenn and that you'll get the results asap. I'm sure you did fine. How are all your other applications working out?
