Actually, maybe I got lucky. I bet the whole recruiting department knew how much of a pest I could be, and just wanted to get me off their backs. ;D Anyways I had the opportunity to meet the Staff Sergeant of recruiting a few times. Great person, and very easy to talk to and he seemed very concerned and helpful to me. I constantly asked questions and I expressed my concern with steps of the recruiting process, he is aware of who I am and what I would like to accomplish. I do recall though that the constables made strict orders as to not contact recruiting, the exam takers should expect results within two weeks. I think the officers in charge were just kind enough to me to take the extra effort to give me my results, early. I was quite concerned with the testing, so luckily I had some nice constables easing my anxiety. He informed that a file manager will be assigned to me and will possibly contact me Monday onward. Fortunately I have got to known some wonderful officers over the years, who have tried to assist me the best they can over the process so far. Their constructive input, and critical comments have been assets to me. I continue to learn as I go along, but I do owe a lot of thanks to the officers I have met along the way.

Jay,
Hey no worries mate, I'm still here as well. I have my package ready to go tomorrow. Had to wait to do pare, first aid, and renew my CPR. Pare 3.32 First aid St Johns Ambulance OFA Level II,CPR level C
So I will be at purolator tomorrow morning. Since I am coming off of a deferral I don't have to rewrite the exam. Just update and fill in a new application plus the fee. So I hope it won't take too long to get a call from recruiting...I am busy at work so time will pass by quick.
Well I have been a reserve constable for one year now. Had my first foot pursuit. Chased some guy for about a block before I caught up to him and tackled him on someone's front lawn. Had him cuffed in seconds. It was text book..turns out that when I searched him he had a significant amount of MJ and some xtc. It felt good to be able to put the pare to the test in real life. I just did the pare for CPS two weeks piror...so it was a real eye opener..the only thing I noticed with the pare was I didn't have that adrenalin rush...lol after I had him cuffed another officer arrived on scene. All she saw was me chasing this guy down the road. Once I put him in the patrol car she said she was jealous because she still hasn't had her first foot chase yet...she gradutaed from the police department about 8 months ago... all in all it was a good learning experience..
Will keep in touch J Chat later See you in Calgary

As I recall, I received a score in the 90's. I also did the RPAT, but don't quite remember the score either. Hey a pass is a pass. Everybody out there has different skills, experiences, attitudes. I believe every applicant has something unique they can bring to the table. There are areas all people have weaknesses in. I think the main issue is to work on those flaws, and try to continuously improve.

Boyscout,
Gald to hear things are progressing for you, and work sounds like its been very...interesting...never responded to your email from awhile back, sorry. That sounded like a less than ideal shift. I don't look forward to that stuff at all.
Malaka, Any updates on your progress? Have you been assigned a file manager yet?
I'm still sitting here waiting for my marks...I'll give them until Friday before I start calling and harrassing them about it.
Shameless plug time... Anyone in the Calgary area looking for PT or FT work as a PI, for interview/life experience, shoot me a PM. The company I'm working PT at is looking for a few good people to fill some opening positions.
End plug... ;D

Oh yes, one more thing. Recruiting is swamped, with applications and all. The last examination was quite large, so alot more people to process than the norm. I suggest to be patient, I heard results were just mailed the last few days.

Yeah, I called recruting on Friday, they said the same thing that they had a larger than normal number of applicants, and that I shuld get the results next week. Well the results came that day (Friday) so it was a pointless call I guess...Anyways I passed both exams (104/120 on the APCAT). So now I have a File manager and just waiting for the next steps. So far I know one other guy who has his interview scheduled for Jan 7th. It would be nice if I could get one around the same time (Jan) might make a March class yet... ;D

More updates!
Well like was previously mentioned, recruiting is a little slow right now more to people going away for the holidays than anything else. Talked to my file manager today, and I'll be going in for my pre-screening interview on the 7th of Jan. No word on the panel interview yet, but hopefully it will be in early Jan as well. Heres hopin! ;D
Boyscout, Any word on your app yet? They should have received and reviewed your app by now!?

I have talked with recruiting. They have my updated application and should receive a call in a week or two. My prescreen interview will be done over the phone like last time. I am hoping it will be before the end of Dec. But with holidays coming up....I doubt it. I am busy at work and with the Reserves so time is going by quickly.
Last week I attended an abandoned 911 call. Things got real bad real quick. Deployed the tazer twice on this guy and he still didn't go down. So as you can imagine, things weren't going very well. There were two other officers there and myself. Its amazing how much strength someone has when they are out of control. He was a sec 28, we finally over powered him and put the cuffs on him. Then he was taken to the hospital where he can get some proper help. I will fill in the rest when I am in Calgary and having a coffee together..
Hang in there.See you in Calgary.

Good to hear Boyscout! but unfortunately you're right about the holidays. I think most of recruiting is gone for the last 2 weeks of Dec so it will probably be in Jan. a couple weeks wait is better than a few (6+) months wait with some other forces I know.... ;D At least work is keeping you on your toes Look forward to coffee when you get here.
