I was finished everything. Medical, dental, BI, psyc, interviews, you name it. Only thing left was the call. Instead of that I got the letter. Nothing inthe application process is final except for the call or the letter. I was not receiving a call to complete my final pare even though it was expired so that was one little indicator in retrospect. Everything else was done.

Did they happen to explain why in the letter? I find it strange that you would get deferred at the very end and they not tell you why.

I agree. why would they go through all the trouble of testing etc. to just toss you at teh very end? They MUST have told you something. Get a copy of your file under the FOI act

I think the reason was his deferal with CPS for the failed poly. Maybe the RCMP didn't get this info until after everything else was done.

Well according to what I am hearing, and this is from the CPS. That the polygraphists have this network, where they share the results of the examinations they do on a subject. It is possibly that one agency contacted another about polygraphs. I was also told that if you fail a polygraph, you are possibly barred from applying at any other agency. Now based upon what grounds on the polygraph, I haven't the slightest clue.

Why would failing a poly disqualify you from service with another department? It wouldn't automatically disqualify you (I know of people who failed CPS poly and are now with RCMP) however it would depend on why you failed/were defered. Its hard to explain, if you were defered for being deceptive but it was, in the rcmp's mind, a small issue the rcmp may still accept you or it could go the other way too...

Yep from what I have heard at every infosession if you Lie to them or are deceptive about something they consider to be important you are DONE. They can forgive alot but trying to hide things won't be forgiven.
If you failed out of one agency for that reason it's likely your done for all of them. I find it odd they wouldn't tell you though.
Don't risk it. Tell the whole truth the first time and don't just answer questions off the cuff and you should be ok. At least from a deception/lying standpoint.

I don't know about a polygraperh network but as you all recall you are asked by just about every force you apply to (CPS, EPS, RCMP) whether you have ever applied to another force and why you were deferred. There is no statute of limitations, they ask if you have EVER at any time applied elsewhere. Being the honest applicant you state where and they contact that force for the reason of your deferral. When one cop talks to another, regardless of the force they are from, they let loose and tell it like they see it. You might also notice that on the personal disclosure forms you sign they state that they can contact whom they please and defer an applicant based on peoples "opinions". I can only assume that when the RCMP contacted CPS, the recruiter at CPS stated why they defered me, even though I strenuously objected and filed a formal request to have the polygraphers "opinion" withdrawn from my CPS file. The RCMP probably listened to the CPS opinion and decided it was not in their best interest to hire me. Thanks for letting me give my side of the story! A cop is going to listen to a cop over an applicant anyday. I can guarantee that sort of info will never be included with any FOIP act request I submit to the RCMP. Live and learn.

TEXT Do you have to take coolage courses such as criminology and others in order to apply for CPS? A friend of mine in Regina has to take 3 plus years of collage including criminology before she can even apply for Regina city police. Just curious if it's the same else where.

I think that the 700 applicants that the CPS has right now don't require that. (this number was given to me by recruiting) Although I do think it is a plus for someone heading in there with that kind of education and experience.
The basic requirements don't state that it is required for the application process.

The requirements say Two Years of Post Secondary or 2 Years of steady employment...
(I am paraphrasing. What it says might be worded slightly different if you want the real words go to their site and look)
I think the gist is they want people that are not fresh out of High School. And people that can show a small amount of dedication by staying at a job for 2+ years.
