You won't get a package until the next Bloc goes out in April/May.

Guards what div are you in? Interesting reading all of the posts. Although I am excited about the possibility of being hired, the process is just wayyy to long to get really excited and I just can't get to "up" on it. I have a very good job right now so I am just concentrating on putting as much money away as possible. Though the recruiter did give me an approx date if everything went well. Which I thought was positive.

No, no, that is when I was told to expect things to happen if everything works out. No specific dates.

Don't get too excited when they give you an approximate date. I can't count on one hand the number of times I was told (by recruiting) I should be getting the call. Things are looking very favourable. Told to start preparing, getting my finances in order. "The call is coming". Then wham, a letter saying thanks buit no thanks, try again in two years. Not trying to depress anyone but don't take anything to the bank until you get that call saying welcome to Troop X and please report to this station to sign in.

I couldn't agree more. As you will read in my earlier posts I am not that excited about it. I know the realities of the situation. AS most people are very excited about the whole process, I have spoken to a number of members and the timeline seems to be between 9 mth and 16mth, if everything checks out. I am in a great career now and this adventure is what you would call a "dream shot". one shot. That is all. Now, to say that I am very not excited about the possibility of serving, would be an outright lie, but reality dictates that one must play the waiting game and hold their "bursting at the seams" in check. Knowing the failure rate is so high among potential recruits, 90% to be more accurate througout the process, when you take in the fact that approx 9,000 people apply and less than 900 get hired, why get an realistic belief that it is easy to get in? I think what people are excited about it the media stating the there is a massive shortage, so people think that it it the best time to apply, not realizing the overall process hasn't changed. However, it is still fun to chat with those going through the process. Good or bad. Don't you think?

At what stage did this happen?
