Bas,
If money is tight, don't spend it on that online practice exam. I went to the local library and picked up Norman Halls Police Exam book. It has a variety of practice questions and 2 or 3 practice exams (plus it was FREE!)

As mentioned in a previous thread, my background was started without my knowing. I was called by a lady in Edmonton about a previous address.
When I asked, she expected it to take a month, and I have lived in 6 places over 2 provinces.
However, none of my references have been contacted yet or current employer.
I do wonder, however, if the medical clearing process is as fast as the background investigation?
Bye YYC

Bas, Don't spend the $50...just do like rebel said. Go to the library and pick up the Norman Halls book. The RPAT is just common sense, basic math and vocab (so they say ;D )and memory. I would make sure you remember how to do Grade 9 math...long division sucks when you haven't done it for 10 years ...but all of this is covered in the book. I went into my RPAT almost blind...I did some reading in the prep books, and tried a few practice questions, but never actually sat down and did one of the practice exams, and I still got a 4.07. My thoughts though, if you feel more cofortable taking the practice thing online for $50 then by all means go for it. Whaever will make you more cofortable with the exam. ;D

Well, I got a call from recruiting today...wasn't what I was wanting to hear....I was told that since it has not been 2 years since I was discharged from bankruptcy, I could not pass the security clearance However the recruiter actually sounded genuinely upset that I couldn't continue on. He said that I should deffinetly re-apply in July of next year (2 years then) but that means I'm starting back at square one!! I'm not sure if I can go through this stress again...I talked to recruiting with CPS today, and I think I'm just going to apply there. They were originally my first choice, but I couldn't afford to apply to them at that time, so I went with my second choice, RCMP. It just frickin pisses me off that they let me get this far in the process before they realized this!! It was on my F**KIN application package!!! didn't anyone read the F**KIN thing!?! AAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!! Sorry had to get that out...I'll still be stopping in here to see how everyone else is doing and to update on my CPS progress, different thread though. TTYL J2D

J2D,
I am sorry to hear that man, it stinks how a small thing like that would set you back. Best of luck for the CPS application.

J2D, sorry to hear the terrible news, you'd think they would have caught that earlier and talked to you about it then.......on a more positive note, just think....you could be on with CPS in a matter of months....go for it and good luck. Maybe you can start a new CPS thread and keep us updated with the process there...

J2D, that royally sucks. You have my condolences...
I can totally understand you wanting to apply with CPS. Perhaps it might be a better thing for you in the long run... do your time there, then after 7 or 8 years apply with the RCMP again. You'd certainly have the experience to qualify a lot quicker!

Thanks everyone! The people on this board are really supportive, especially when it's needed the most. I've always believed that everything happens for a reason, so maybe this is just the universe's way of saying the RCMP isn't for me...who knows. At least I tried my best, and you can't expect anymore than that. I'm waiting to hear back from CPS recruiting, about the bankruptcy thing...don't want to have the same thing happen twice!! ;D I feel confident about CPS, I know a lot of officers, I volunteer with them, and my neighbor's son and son in-law are both inspectors so that can't hurt either... Ah well s**t happens...you either suck it up and deal with it, or you can go cry and hide...I prefer to suck it up! They haven't seen the last of me yet.... ;D

J2D, I am very sorry to hear your new. I hope you get better news from CPS. Look like it was "call day" for recruiting. I got a call today also. Unfortunately, they did not receive some of my lab work and there are some issues with Psychological Test. I have to go and do a "psychological Stall Test". Does anyone know anything about this test? Little bit of running around but I am sure it will all be worth it. Jag

J2D, Its hard to believe that they didn't catch on to this sooner. They should have caught it as soon as you turned in your app and saved you a whole lot of worry, stress and hope. CPS is a great dept. I work them on a daily basis and have nothing bad to say about them. Look at it this way you will probably be finished their process long before you would have even heard back from the RCMP. Good luck and I look forward to hearing your progress with CPS.

Jag, I think that test is just a one on one interview with the psych who evaluates you from there. My psych that it is very common for this to happen and not to worry about it too much if it happened to me.
Jas, good stuff your getting really close now it must be hard to control your excitement. ;D
