Wow Impy what a high RPAT score, awesome. That will give you a packet for sure. I must have read right past your posting last night, I never seen it till now. Dalex, good luck on your pare this sunday. Remember that the most important thing is to pace yourself through it and you will do fine.

DaveTO, Congrats on the successful interview. How much time is spent on the suitabilty and on the security out of those 8 hours? Impy, that is an absolutely fantastic score on the RPAT, what is your secret? Dragon, best of luck to the interview, get a good night sleep and knock them down tomorrow!! ;D Rexina, I find your story very interesting and inspiring as well. Your persistence, determination and commitment will get you to the finish line soon. Please do not let the detour discourage you. Folks, how about a quick update of your timelines here? It has been a while since I've seen these timelines. Bas

DaveTO, Congrats, Congrats! ;D ;D ;D What a relief for you...well done! EIGHT hours??! Was that just the Selection Interview, or the Security Interview as well? Were you given any idea as to how long you could expect the BGI to take? dalex, I can't believe you've had your package for so long! On the bright side though; it's nice that you were able to do it all in a leisurely fashion, and not rush insanely through it. I got mine on May 24, 2002 and it was due back at HQ by June 17th. Living up north, it was very challenging to have it completed in that short period! (Hard to get hearing/sight appointments, PARE, etc.) There's just no telling or predicting with this process; I think getting through it and being able to roll with the punches is testament not only to one's dedication, but personal flexibility as well! Best of luck on your PARE, are you worried, or fairly confident? Thank you dalex and Bas, for the encouraging comments. I was hesitant to join the group at first, thinking that I didn't belong, but you've made me feel very welcome! Tim.....go get 'em! Looking forward to your triumphant post! Rexina

To prep for the RPAT, I used both "Barron's Police Officer Exam - 6th Ed." and "Norman Hall's Police Exam Preparation Book - 2nd Ed." I found the Normal Hall book to be much more useful, especially when it comes to memorizing (and comparing) suspects. The Barron's book seemed rougher around the edges, but was still good for "bathroom material". If I were to do it again, I would purchase the Norman Hall guide only.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm not sure how it is calculated. I never took Abstract Mathematics in university, but I am sure that there is a random number generator involved somehow. ;D

WTG, Reb! At this rate there is going to be a lot of us in depot at the same time...might even be some people in the same troop!!
Bas, I'm going to start an RCMP Timeline thread instead of cluttering up this one. so if anyone wants to update their timelines, head on over to the thread...

YC, missed your post WAY up at the top of the page... ;D
I haven't heard of anyone failing the BGI, but my guess would be if someone didn't disclose something or lied at their security interview, that would disqualify someone pretty darn fast...anyone else heard of people failing the BGI?

Dragon- Good luck on the interview tomorrow !!
Rexina - You are right, in one way having the extra time to work on the application was nice (there is a lot to do), but it's hard because it just feels like MORE waiting, I am so ready to move to the next stage ! Where in northern BC are you ? I am confident about the PARE test, I took a practice PARE a couple of months ago. I did it in 4:05 but had three mat penalties (ouch) so my final time was 4:20. Still good enough to pass, but I hope to do better. I have been doing a lot more running than i usually do the last couple of months so I hope that helps. I have been working out and doing cardio very regularly for about a year and a half, but I was really surprised at how worn out I was after that 4 Minutes. I think my biggest problem was not pacing myself, I came out too fast on the first few laps and then the next three suffered (hit the mat each time). Impy, you said that the Baron's book was good for "bathroom material" - Is that right ? Even though it was "rougher around the edges" ? Rebel- congratulations on the interview call, very exciting. God luck ! When did you send your package in ?

DAVETO, Good job on the interview, I can't believe it was 8 hours long. Mine was only about 4.5 and that was with a 20 min break between the suitabilty and security interview. You must have been zonked after it was over.
Impy great score on the RPAT, shouldn't be long to get your package.
Dalex, in Alberta they do the suitabilty interview first if you pass that you do the security on the same day. Its different in every province though, I think in BC they do the security first and then come back on a different day for the suitabilty.

Thanks for the interview info Recruit1. Anyone in E division have there security and regular member interview on the same day other than Rexina ?
Journey, I noticed on your timeline that you ran the PARE after you sent in your package. Is this how they do it in Alberta ? I thought everyone had to include it in their package.
