Thanks for the tips and advice DT.  I heard that about the broad jump.  I really have to work hard to get that, seeing it's only 2 inches shorter than my height!  But I can do it, I just need a little run off.  Do you know the total distance for the PARE?

I think its somewhere around 400 metres give or take. I did have the exact number on my medical clearance form but I don't have a copy here.

I went down to the RCMP headquarters yesterday during an open house and I spoke with the lady who administers the PARE.  She told me to keep working on my cardio and upper body strength and I should be fine.  She told me that I just need to the motivation and determination and I will be able to do it.  So I felt good about that.  As well, she told me that I could go watch it being completed on Friday, but unfortunately, I am working that day.  Oh well!  But it's only another couple weeks and I'll be there!

Hi guys Just for fun and some info I went to an information session (for a 2nd time) to see what was new. Well not a lot but they did say that they will be implementing the polygraph. Although he was not sure exactly when it would start. He also said that they will be changing the way the interview is done. The security interview will be done first to weed out the unsuitable. This will potentialy lower the rpat score and allow more people to make the grade...

Hey Jamaf, were you there as well tonight in Nanaimo? I will be rewriting the rpat on June 8th. Hope to get higher than my 3.5 from last June.
Seems to be that we are at the same places without knowing it..
It was interesting on how many the will be hiring out of E division this coming block. Hope things will move a bit faster this time around.

Well crud Glenn   Ya I was there..   drove the hour and a half to Nanaimo from Sidney to find out they are having an information sessoin in June in Victoria doh....But I Just wanted to see what was new. Good luck on the rpat. I got a book called "Barrons police officer exam" From bolen books at the hillside mall. It was very helpful in writing the rpat I found.

 He said that they would be boosting the recruiting from E-Division  from about 100 per year to 400  ;D  good for us ;D

hello all,

after receiving your RPAT score you either make the first bloc or are processed for a second bloc later on. my question is, if you are not selected for the first bloc (ie. in may), does the division advise you of this, or do they leave you hanging? thanks

Ruff Rider,
They will send you a letter stating that you have not been selected and will be carried over to the next bloc. My first letter came about 5 weeks after receiving my rpat score of 3.5

My letter that I just opened today states that a selection was recently made, unfortunately, your application was not amoung those selected. As you are aware, the selection is made in accordance with the rcmp (rpat) results and only a number sufficient to meet our recruiting needs are selected to proceed in further competition.
Applicants are permitted two consecutive opportunities to compete on a ranked list. This was your second competition, you application file will be concluded. Should you wish to reapply you may do so by rewriting the rpat at least one year from the date of your last exam.

So I will be rewriting on June 8,2002
One year and two days after I wrote the first time last year. That year went fast as I now look at it. Hopefully I will get higher than 3.5 from my first try.
Try Try and try some more I guess.

Get this guys,

My RPAT result got lost in the mail and I was anxiously waiting for my result until one day my application package arrived saying that I was selected.  That was eight weeks after I wrote the RPAT.  The recruiter requested another copy to be sent to me but that hasn't reached me yet either . . .that was three weeks ago!  So I still don't know what my RPAT mark was.  Although I heard that the cutoff for here was 4.25 this selection.  Good luck to you Glenn on your RPAT!  Ruff Rider, hang in there, October is not far away at all . . . I think that's the next selection bloc.

I'll keep you all posted on the PARE, I run it in a week and a half!

Had to re-run the PARE the other day considering it expired six months ago. I DID NOT like doing it. (hehe)
That last lap sure is a bitch!! ;D
