Hello All.
After several hours of intense reading of this forum, I have reached the part where I can introduce myself.
Since the age of 4 years, I have wanted to become a Regular Member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
At age 17, I attended my first RCMP Information Session. I knew that I was too young to proceed with my application, but figured that it would be adventageous to obtain any information available to me.
During that year, I was attending the British Columbia Institute of Technology's satillite campus located in Kelowna, BC. I was able to partake in a special education program sponsored by the school district which allowed me to obtain post secondary education, while recieving high school graduation credits. Best of all, the school district footed the bill for tuition, which left only the expense of books.
While I obtained my education in electronics, I formed my own business, in this field. Soon after, would come part time contracting with the RCMP Informatics Branch. During this time, I was informed of possible funding for a position with the RCMP as a Civilian. At age 18, in June, 2003 I obtained my Enhanced Reliability Clearance, and commenced full time civilian employment with the RCMP Informatics Branch. I had passed my security interview and background check.
I was fortionate enough in September, 2003 to run a PARE in Kelowna. They sent my result of 3:38 to recruiting, although I had not opened a file for my regular member application, I can see the
on their faces when they recieved my results, heh. I feel my time was pretty good, as I was unable to work in much gym time during the BC Forest Fire Season.
Soon afer the time came to address opening my recruiting file. I reattened a information session in late September 2003, and wrote the RPAT Oct. 6th, 2003 in Kelowna, BC (E Div).
I am now waiting for my test results, which I hope to see in around a month.
It seems I have began my application in reverse order, which may assist with expediating the process, only time will tell.
I am 19 years old now, which I realize is quite young for recruiting, however, I figure it is worth the shot.
I have went on many ride-alongs over the last year and have been exposed to many incidents, from minor to major. It has been very informative, and has allowed me to determine that I have choosen the right career path for me.
For those who have not attended a ride-along, it is a very worth while venture, and might give you some experiences to talk about during your interviews and allow you to determine if this career is for you.
About 2 weeks ago I decieded I should persue the RCMP Auxiliary program, while my application is processed. I was met with the unfortionate response, that the RCMP Auxiliary does not allow RM Applicants, who are active in the recruiting process to join. This was a litle disconcerning, given the fact that, I felt this could only be a positive step toward my goal, and in the end a positive experience that I would be able to bring with me as a Regular Member.
So be it.
Anyhow, I hope by tomarrow to have my account on this forum setup.
If there is any Applicants in the Kelowna area who would like to get together and discuss recruiting or start a (physical training and or study group) Please get in touch with me.
I am on msn messenger ve7ked@hotmail.com
I look forward with getting to know more people in the recruiting process to share in the waiting, failures, and success storys.
Best Regards,
Michael.
