I got a call from recruiting today to schedule my medical. Woo! And apparently they do the BGI and medical at the same time now, at least in E division. Looks like I really could be freezing my boys off in Regina in December!

good to hear macguy
i got the "medically cleared" yesterday. BI has only one or two more refs to get a hold of...he said he will be done before the diary date of oct 1.
the excitement/stress levels are starting to ramp up as the "call" draws near.

Hey Goose, Customs does seem like it would be good experience not to mention it would pay better than the security job I currently have. I was checking out their website, they had an opening in S. Ontario, although they said bilingualism was imperative. Is that usually the case (I'm not bilingual)?

Goose - you nailed it right on the money, I am from PEI, you are getting close too! Thanks for the welcome.. there are a lot of new faces and I think I need to go back and recap who is who... I don't know if there are any other east coasters on here.. I know there was but some haven't posted in awhile!
HockeyDude - as for finishing your schooling go for it... It is a long process to get through and having a secondary education will only better you as a person. I was going through to be a Correctional Officer(graduated in June) but I was at a month away from the second bloc, which means if I hadn't of made it in that selection I would have had to start all over again.. When I graduated I got hired on right away at a Correctional Institution so I was glad for the experience and the job(kind of like a back up plan) Your idea of Customs is a wonderful idea, gets your foot in the door to having a career in the justice field.
My timeline = = = = = = = = RCMP Police Aptitude Test (RPAT) = wrote June 7th 2002 got package April 9thish 2003 Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation(PARE) = May 2nd 2003 Eyes and Ears Testing = June16th 2003 Psychological Evaluation = 30th of June 2003 Regular Member Selection Interview Guide((RMSIG) = June 26th 2003 then had my security interview the same day Had my final requirements passed in on August 15th Background Investigation started on August 25th or around there.. and I just got an email today from my last contact in NS, I was already told that the PEI stuff is finished Dr. Appointment on August 29th 2003 Dentist Appointment on September 5th 2003 Talked to my recruiter the other day and she said just waiting on some paper work from other provinces.. So that is where I stand

Must be nice to be from PEI...a new mulit-million dollar bridge for the few dozen that live on the island, and a rcmp recruiting section that is qucik! Atleast from the time you got your package to now. The 10 month wait after writing the RPAT is just crazy! Chris11....if a Custom position states bi-lingual...they mean it. They have a number of positions that must be filed by bi-lingual people, therefore they post separetely for them. The english only ones do pop up frequently, especially in the Ontario/Quebec areas....just keep an eye on their web site. Hummm....why do I know this about Customs Oh...and about the stress at the end of the process....I'm going nuts. I think it is the unknown and subjectivity of it. Do I have some hidden medical condition, is one of my references jealous of me and will say some bad stuff, when I go to Regina what do I do with my car...sell it...take it...store it. Can I eat cafeteria style food for 22 weeks. Will the guest that said 'see you in hell' be in my troop. All sorts of stressors.

Hi guys, WHat the heck "is see you in hell?" Don't he know Mounties go up not down? To those going to Regina over the winter months it does get a we bit cold. But, the upside is if it is below -25 you don't run outdoors. I went thru in Sept to March, the cold is teh best time to get pepper sprayed. On a serious note, I know how it feels. THe waiting can be the worst. Bit, you mafe it through the interveiw, that is the worst part. I remember the waiting and waiting and then "THE CALL". trust me it is worth the wait. Everyone I see on here that is so serious about makiing it to the RCMP, the dedication and in some cases sacrifices made. I have mentioned the survival mentality more than once in posts here. I can in the of the people who are trying achieve their goals by making it to the ranks of law enforcement that you have that drive. That drive, passion, survival mentality will serce you extremely well in Depot. There are times when you will want to go home, times when you will say "I have had enough". When this happens do what I used to do (no not cry in a corner ;D), Go and watch a "pass out". It will push you on through the next week. It is tough, stressful, rigorous. But, I would not trade it for anything in the world. I have the greatest job in on the planet. Storm

It is interesting that you ask!
Yesterday there was a Career Fair at the University of Calgary and the RCMP had booth set-up. I thought it might be a good idea to get an insight into the process. During our conversation, the recruiter offered to check into my file.
So, I called her today. As it stands, everything has been clear. Including my background and Security Certificate. Only thing that is outstanding is the medical clearance. As you might recall, I wrote my "stall" Exam in August. The pending results are holding up the process.
Ironically, I also received a letter yesterday. Basically, informing me that my PARE has expired and that I need to redo it. Not a surprise.
If I am sane and able to pass the PARE, then I am signed up for Regina's famous winters. :oJag

Just back to the stress of waiting at the end after the interviews....I find that I have doubting moments when I look at other timelines from the same province and you notice that someone else has flew through the background check or medical clearance. You kinda wonder why yours is taking so long. Oh well, what do you do. I guess it is luck of the draw as to how long it takes someone to review or actually do a certain portion of your file. I'll just talk with the voices in my head to de-stress me.
