Is this abnormal? I wrote the RPAT in July and still no word...........is this bad news? I am sure they said we would find out our results in 6 to 8 weeks.... I know I know, I'm impatient....... Hi Still Waiting, Hehehe....you might as well start to get used to the waiting. Some people have waited 3 - 4 months to receive their results. I waited about 2 months. How well do you think you did on the test ? Did you find it fair, difficult, easy, etc. ?

still waiting
an apt name as it will apply for the next year and a half. be patient. they WILL get to u eventually. u are not alone - i am sure u have sensed the frustration on all of the previous posts. it is a long, long, long, long, long, long process....70 some odd weeks for me now!
reflecting on the last 1.5yrs i think that all of this waiting will only make THE PHONE CALL that much more meaningful.

Ahhh....the call....(no, I haven't got it yet)....I know what you mean bcrcmp wanabe......I'm sure all the excessive waiting will feel like old news when the call comes in. If you add up all the time between now and when I first applied to the rcmp.........it's about 8 years and 7 months and 13 days. Makes the 1.5 year wait seem like a piece of cake.

Hi Observer, I thought I did well...........okay I do have to admit the vocab. got me. Where did those words come from? Don't worry, most of us here had similar thoughts about the vocabulary section. I have never heard of or seen some of those "words" that were on the test, and I read quite a bit. Overall, I found that the test was balanced. My score was a 4.37. I have made it to the final stages of the process. My background investigation was the last thing remaining and that was completed 3 weeks ago. My current profession and personal life keeps me occupied so I don't have to constantly think about the process. I found I was pretty tense in the early stages, but after I passed the suitability interview I relaxed a bit. That interview was my biggest concern. You are still in the very early stages of the process and have a few more hurdles to jump. Just keep yourself busy, and prepare as best you can for the various application stages. Go through as many of the posts here that you can, some of them are helpful. Hope you did well on the test.

Goose & BCRCMP Wanabe, it looks like I am at the same stage as you two as well. I'll join your frozen rain forest team in Regina. Who else on this forum is expecting 'the call' in the next few weeks or so? Take a read of PaulF's website, it looks like 'F' Div gets some personal treatment in the application process...must be nice. Oh...good job today Paul.

Observer, your BI was finished three weeks ago? Do they call you and tell you they are done? What is the wait for now...to find you a date or did they give you a date? What province are you being recruited from (just want to compare it to BC)?
I'm just near the end of the BI and I'm wondering if the next call will be a "ok, we're done, but wait some more" or a "ok, we would like to offer you this date" kind of call.

Have many of you gone on ride-alongs? I went on one in June, and it was pretty cool. I called back last week to go on another, and they told me that there was some new policy to only let people go on only ride-along. What the heck is up with that? I think that if you are in the application process, then they should be welcoming the future recruits to see what it is truly like out there. I am sure that there are lots of applicants that think that being a police officer is just like on television. Has anyone else heard of such a policy? If this is the way it is, then I am pretty disappointed.

Hey Jam Jam,
I was told the same thing after my ride along in "K". The Cst I went out with was trying everything to get me in again but the Sgt told him the same thing you were told. One ride along per applicant...that's it. Apparently it's due to the high volume of applicants requesting them, and they want to be fair for everyone. However, don't overlook your local municipal forces. It's usually just as easy to get the first ride along, and the second, and third, and... ;D after all LE is LE whether it's with the Force or another department. Plus municipal tends to be a little more relaxed on their ride alongs, but it depends on the Cst your riding with.

I'm just near the end of the BI and I'm wondering if the next call will be a "ok, we're done, but wait some more" or a "ok, we would like to offer you this date" kind of call. Hi Goose, I am applying from Ottawa, Ontario. The BI investigator came to my home last, after he and his assistants ( he had help from 3 other members) contacted all my references, former employers, co-workers, landlords and neighbours. By the way, he also spoke with my current employer. Good thing I had long discussed my application with my present manager. When he came to my home to meet with my wife and I, he informed me that everything was completed and visiting us was the last thing he had to do. He also informed me that everything had gone well and that he would be submitting his report which would probably take a couple of weeks. His entire meeting at the home with us took nearly 30 minutes ( My wife had lots of questions ). He was a very professional guy...and thorough (as I expected). I last spoke with recruiting about 2 and a half weeks ago, just a few days after the BI was over, and they told me that the only thing they were waiting for was my security certificate. I NEVER like to count my chickens before they hatch, but things are looking very good so far. I thought I would be anxious at this stage, but I am not. I am actually ramping up my workout routines ( more cycling and running ) and following up on my release application from the reserves. I already received my First Aid and CPR certificates through the reserves earlier this year, so thats one less thing to do. I think the only remaining thing I have to do is take a typing test.

Hello Everyone,
Great to see so many new comers! Getting a little difficult to keep track of who is who?
It seems to me that there is a little bit of a bottle neck effect happening with the recruiting process. Furthermore, it seems that the process is different from division to division.
I have always wonder why the discrepancy in the process? My BI took a week and not all my associates were contacted. However, when my results on my Psyc test came back. I was asked to go and write a stall exam. Where as others go and sees the Doc.
However, one thing that is pretty consistent, is the wait! Average two years from the time you write your test. So far behind me 1 year 3 months 29 days since my RPAT.
Any records out there? Jag
