To any current or past cadets, what is your experience with having to travel back home while at depot. Is it ok during the weekends, or are you too busy to even think about visiting home during the 6 months. Any feedback would be appreciated.

FYI: you no longer have holidays while at Depot. Travel home will depend on where home is.

In my troop, a few people from BC did travel home, some more than once. Typically you are not allowed to leave Depot until 16:30 hours on Friday and must return by 23:00 hours Sunday. There is always stuff to do on the weekends with your troopmates, on and off Depot. I say make the most of your time there, it goes by very quickly.

When I was at depot we only had 4 days off around Christmas.
Several of my troopmates headed home on a regular basis. Some did it every weekend.
The biggest thing is that during certain parts of depot, it is a big strain to take a whole weekend off. You'll find that you'll have to work that much harder during the week to accomplish your tasks.
Additionally, you will also miss out on some very important team building which occurs on weekend.
It's a trade off, depends on the individual/troop dynamics and how much work you get done.

Sure... if you hang out 'off depot' at the local establishments, same as anywhere else but if you are that desperate maybe you should just go home or polish yer boots again.

HELLO.....ANYBODY OUT THERE? JOURNEY HOW ARE YOU DOING ANYWAY?HAVE YOU DECIDED TO SUBMIT ANOTHER APPLICATION?YOU REALLY SHOULD YA KNOW I THINK THINGS WILL GO YOUR WAY THIS TIME. I don't use this forum much anymore. I'm either on Blueline or 10-62...as for my app I was going to re-apply but my wife and I decided that she should go back to school first, which means I'm going to be waiting about 2.5 years before I re-apply to CPS. I wish I didn't have to wait that long but it was a tough decision and it just makes more sense with my current job (re income) for my wife to go to school first, then once she is done, her income will make it feasable for me to get on with CPS. Besides, CPS is going to be hiring like mad for AT LEAST the next 5 years...this city isn't getting any smaller.
