Hey guys,
2 nights ago I was drivin down a rurual st to my house when a car passed by & then pulled a u-turn & blue/red lights started flashing. It was werid cause they were flashin pretty good but seemed different.
I pulled over, the lights stayed on or about 1 min & then shut off. The cars regular lights stayed on...I just sat there for like 2-3 mins...all of a sudden the car reversed back, turned around & the lights came back on & it went the other way & then the lights shut off. The lights were only at the front of the car, on the dash, no back lights.
I felt something was wrong & turned around & went after, turned out to be a ford focus, I could get a plate number but did chase the car for a good 10 mins before it took off.
What kinda punishment could thye have gotten for doin that.

HAHA, It's Canada don't forget....they, if it even ever went anywhere they would get nothing..... It would be hard to prove whose driving. You're very lucky since you did pull over that whomever was in the car didn't have any sort of weapons that they used against you. I would recommend you not chasing the car again in that sort of situation...you got a plate and that's all you can do....without getting hurt.

Like Amanda said, not much will happen unless they are caught doing it, and the punishment depends on where you are (Can or US). In Alberta the following applies:
They could also be charged with false arrest, kidnapping, and possibly weapons charges, if they have any. I'm sure a creative officer could come up with even more charges.
Realisticly though? They'd probalby get handed a $1000 or less fine, and 6 months probation up here.

I would be creative and could find a variety of fines. Crown will get nothing for it. When faced with something like that it is usually a bonehead who thinks it is funny. I usually use the Motor Vehicle Act and all the other little acts to levy a pile of fines, becuase to some little bonehead in a Focus, $500 in fines is just as good as $10000.
As for not knowing who was driving, that is only relevant for Criminal Code. As for most other provicial acts, you can issue to the registered owner.
Like another post said, never chase anyone. I see more bad things happen to nice people out here in BC because they tried to chase someone.
FUN FUN FUN!
