Hello all, I have not been here in quite some time but since my deferral I have trying to think of anything but my police career. I did appeal my deferral and after two months I got a reply from the applicant review committee. Basically I was sent the exact same form letter I originally got from recruiting, except this time it was signed by a Staff Sergeant. Although I am completely frustrated, and totally mind boggled as to why I was deferred, I am not going to let this end my dream of becoming a cop. I will forget about CPS and apply elsewhere. I had really hoped to get hired by CPS and begin my career in the city I grew up in, but c'est la vie. I wish all of you luck in your career aspirations and I hope everyone achieves what they set out for. I don't think I will return to this site for awhile, at least until I apply elsewhere. Thanks for reading my little rant, and again good luck to you all.

Romano,
It's really to bad you can't get an actual answer as to why you were deferred. There loss will be someone else's gain.. Good luck!

Hey Romanao. Sorry about your appeal, but I've heard form other CPS members that appeals are usually given the same result oas the initial decision. Don't give up, RCMP is hiring you know... I was givena 2 year by CPS, and no I'm pretty much done everything iwht the RCMP and just waiting for a troop date. Lots of people have been deferred by one service and then accepted by another. EPS is a good service too...if you can pass the pysical to get in.

Why won't you listen. It was the poly. Get a degree and job elsewhere. You're done trying to become a cop.

It may not have been the Poly and it might. Let me explain. And I'm not assuming that I know anything about this specific person and I am not making ANY judgements. This comes right fromt the comitee that makes the decision on lifetime deferrals. If an individual enters the Poly interview and begins to disclose things not on the PDF that are important he will be deferred. The applicant was totally honest in the interview, but HR sees an integrity issue in waiting till the last minute to disclose the info. But again, I have no insight into this file.
Dan.

According to the 3 information sessions that I attended with CPS. Recruiting claims that you have up to the polygraph to disclose any information that you have to them. It could be something you just remembered or what not. I guess you have to make a judgement on what was disclosed and the severity of the information disclosed. Just my opinion. A lifetime deferral is something more severe I assume? What is the process to launch an appeal? I am curious because I have been given a conditional offer by another agency.
