Curious... What shift rotation schedule does the CPS use...? Also, do they still use 2 man cars...? Once a person graduates from the class, how do they determine which district that they assign you to? Do they consider where the officer lives...?

Dont know what the shift rotations are, but I do know that they use both one and 2 man cars. Once class is done we get 3 choices of district. They try to give you one. Have you found a place yet?

Hey, Maybe I can help you out with this. Each district runs their own scheduling but it's always 10 hour shifts, 4 per week. That week is Sunday - Saturday so you could be 5 or 6 in a row or whatever even though it's only 4 per week. Days off are anywhere from 2 to 5 day weekends, usually 3 or 4 and in a row. While you're in class you put in your top 3 districts and the sargeant and staffing needs determine from there. My experience, bust your butt in class and it will show in which pick you get. However, if you're big and experienced, you may not get a choice 2 man cars generally during night shift, unless there are outside circumstances, and often 1 mans during the day depending on your district. That's when you're off field training though so you're looking at 3 months after graduation at least. I know this was a really old post but if it still helps, great.
